Microwave 2 feet from gas range/oven?????

Why?

I just bought a new microwave. It says that it's not to be used within two feet from a gas range/oven...

Why is this?

The location of our old microwave was definitely within two feet... it was on the counter right next to the stove... but there was no warning on that one.

Anyone have an idea?

I want to microwave again!!!!!

I thought perhaps... but how about this?

I misread... it actually says, "not for use within two feet of gas/electric stove, cooktop, or oven."

I think that changes things...

Mighty big flame that'd take. We've got it approximately 1 foot from the stove... we'll see what happens.

I think it should be ok. The last one was.

Those warnings... they add new ones every time someone does something really stupid. Some redneck probably built a shelf one foot above the stove or something... house burned down, and he sued.

My guess is that someone microwaved some crumpled aluminum foil while there was a gas leak from the gas range.

Also, if you microwave your cat to dry it after it comes in from the rain, the cat could climb out of the microwave and into the hot oven if it's too close.

Well, I think I figured it out... well, my wife did. It's not that big a deal.

This microwave isn't like one I've seen before. It is a lot bigger than my last one... it's 2.2 cubic feet inside.

The weird thing is... it's so incredibly light. It must be using some kind of different technology.

Anyway, the thing is... on the side of the stove, there's a vent that seems to blow out some air... and my wife said that it blew the flame a little... so that's gotta be it.

So no stove and microwave at the same time.
