Someone's spreading the rumor on blogs that WSD has been cancelled. Anyone get to hear it today (friday)? Was it on?

This is all due to a few bad apples who support Liverpool. I would encourage everyone to D/L the podcast from today, and then write to Hicks and Gillette here: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/hcu/contact/
The short version of the story is that Steven made some inflammatory comments about Hillsboro, and in turn a few people within the American supporter's groups went after his show, the show's sponsors, and now are making threats against his kids. Cohen has responded by quitting the show.
I'm not here to debate Hillsboro, nor justify Cohen's comments (I mostly disagree with him). I'm here to let you all know that we've lost one of the best outlets for soccer in this country. Like it or not, like Cohen or not, he and his show have done a TON for the game in the states.

Going after sponsors is one thing. Heck, that's a perfectly legit move (and the loyal listeners should have responded by writing more letters to the sponsors claiming they'd boycott if they dropped ads on the show). But going after their family is a whole new level of scum.

Completely agree. I am a Liverpool Fan (have been since i was about 12,)
and I am disgusted by the threats and other BS coming out of these "fan" groups. While I completely disagree with Steven about all Hillsborough, I respected his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game. I am gonna miss WSD, even gonna miss Steven. :)

I would organize a boycott of the Texas Rangers but heck, it's not like anyone cares about them anyway.

This is really sad. I don't care about the comments made from either sides in this. I think there was hatred all around from both sides. The hosts of this show were entitled to their opinions no matter who it offended and the people who were offended have a right to boycott. Death threats are illegal and way over the line, and those who participated in them should be prosecuted.
The worst part about all this is the fact that this was the only show like it in America. These guys where knowledgeable and entertaining, and they brought American soccer fans what they craved. I am fan of top flight sports. I want to watch and follow the best and these guys talked and analyzed the best leagues and competitions in World Football and they did it here live. I am just really disappointed that a few people can ruin a good thing for many.

Agreed.
This is a significant step back for the game in the US. For those of us who have followed the game since the 70s, programs like WSD have been decades in the making and have been destroyed in a few short months by people who have crossed a fundamental line. They do not serve the interests of our beautiful game, the fourth estate or our Great Republic.

It actually wasn't canceled. Steven Cohen decided to stop the show because of the death threats to his family and children.

Which, to me, sounds like Steven Cohen got a lawyer that thinks he has a tremendous case and has done enough research to know he has a case. We may never actually hear about the settlement, but someone else is going to get massively bent over and it's not just Cohen & the show.
But it's a shame the show is gone.

Essentially, this is it. The threats to the children and their school friends was the last straw; nothing is worth putting children at risk.

The end of a daily soccer show is bad for us in America. Hopefully, those death threats will end and Kenny and Steven can return in some fashion.

I havent followed the forums that often so I may be missing some context, but a case about what against who?
What exactly are you talking about.

That's for the lawyers to decide. Just my very own speculation, so take it with a grain of salt. However from what I can see there have long since been an aggressive campaign to, in essence, prohibit his ability to make a living.

Hopefully this show can be replaced with another daily soccer show, but this time one that is run by competent people.

I echo all the posts so far, I'm very saddened as this show (for better or worse) really got me into the sport on a more serious level. Listening to the callers on today's show reinforced that I'm not the only one.
Steven could be a jerkoff, to be sure, but the man has brought a whole lot to us in America in terms of football knowledge and history and perspective.
Sad day, really sad day.
I can only hope they come back in another form to give us our daily does of football and humor.
