That is great news. As long as we can maintain these ratings (if not improve them incrementally), we will have a great chance of attracting more sponsors/advertising dollars. Especially if we can keep doing well on ABC.
We may not get a lucrative TV deal soon, but it doesn't hurt to give good advertising performance to our sponsors.

While I agree it is great news, why do I feel it is most likely to taper off as the season progresses? For one thing, Freddy won't be on the tube near as often, and second, some of the initial interest in Freddy may ease off a bit as well. Of course, the hope is the new people who tuned in once or twice hopefully will keep coming back, it just remains to be seen.

Hey, I'll take it. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how ratings go late in the season (especially considering we tend to get off the 4pm Saturday timeslot later in the season) - Some games do better than average, some worse (http://www.kenn.com/soccer/mlstv2003.html) later in the year. There were some good ratings in August (http://www.kenn.com/soccer/mlstv2002.html) two years ago. I'm sure the Freddy effect will lessen a bit in time, but let's ride that sucker as long as possible for now and be happy that it helps the league.
