One of the most closely-guarded films in the last decade finally shows a bit of itself:

Me? I'm completely excited for this movie. I won't be going to see the 10 minute sneak peek in theaters this weekend; nevertheless I can't remember the last time I have been wanting to see a movie for so long.
The teaser trailer looks awesome--everything is somehow more colorful than I imagined it would be. The aliens look a bit fairy-tale like--but that's no complaint, really.
Thoughts?

Wow. I hope this is as good as it looks like it could be.

I'm not really sold on this thing.
I mean what's the point of making the scenary, etc "photo realistic", if you make this aliens that just stick out like sore CG thumbs?
I still have no idea what the movie is about, or what I actually saw.

Many who saw the footage that was screened at ComicCon are saying that this trailer doesn't do justice to how the CG looks on the big screen--both the alien world and the aliens themselves integrate much more seamlessly with the human actors in the actual movie. Again, that's coming from those who were screened 15 minutes of the movie at ComicCon.
As to your second point, well, it was just a "teaser" trailer--the point isn't really to give a sense of the story.

That could be, I'll give it a chance, just the only thing i'd heard one way or another about the movie was that the CGI was so real and life like, and I didn't get that very much from the teaser.

I never played that game Myst, but it looked like pictures I'd seen of that game Myst.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Cuz I like crazy looking non-real things. Even that mind boggling piece of trash Phantom Menace was mildly interesting for the astounding backgrounds LucasFilms can throw at the screen.
And I'm one of the few on here who seemed to have actually enjoyed Lord of the Rings, so I'll probably see it.

Looks pretty good for an animated film.

The mix of fairy-tale and Sci-fi is what has me so intrigued about this. Will probably an amazing experience worth going to the IMAX for.

Dude, you are not alone. My Fiancée and I watched all three extended editions in a row last Friday. I tear up at the same places each time.

I could watch LOTR anytime, anywhere. Going to see the fellowship for the first time as a 13 year old was one of the defining moments of my growing up to be honest...... I just had never seen anything like it.

seems very interesting to me, if i'm reading the trailer right it looks to be very intriguing...
LOTR has lost lots of luster for me since their releases, frodo drives me insane the lase 1/2 and with all the changes it just doesn't have the same umph at the end like the book, and i rarely if ever compare books to movies but with the 8 different endings PJ makes it hard not to.

The aliens look terrible, so out of place.

Saw a preview for it on the big screen, the scenery for does have that "Whoa" factor but aside from that it didn't reveal much else except for the aliens and a couple of fight scenes.

I wasted way too much time in college playing Myst. And Riven. Awesome games.
And I LOVE the Lord of the Rings.

Me too... Given that The Last Airbender is the best animated series I've ever seen, this is one movie I am looking forward to and dreading at the same time...

Same, I finished the series a few weeks ago and I am really not expecting much from the movie.
The series is really phenomenal though once it hits its stride.
