Okay, I figured the match is a little over 2 weeks away so I would start this.
Saturday 6/12 - Columbus.KC Pregame
For those coming in for the Crew.Wiz game, there will be some tailgating going on prior to the game. Nothing official has been set-up for before the MLS game but people are more than welcome to mingle with Crew fans, just bring some beers to share and that Crew jersey you know you're hiding in the closet.
Saturday 6/12 - Columbus.KC Postgame
After the Crew.Wiz game people will no doubt wanna head out and have some drinks. There are many places in Columbus to go, but last year we hit the Rose & Thistle (http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=Typ&tuid=20310345&ck=2245284091&tab=&csz=Columbus+OH&tcat=8903827&cl=xml&source=rose+%26+thistle+columbus) and most people enjoyed themselves. For now we can all plan on heading over there after the match for some drinks and good times.
Sunday 6/13 - USA.Grenada Pregame
We will be tailgating before the game, time depends on whenever the gates to the lot open. Currently I have not been able to get a definitive answer from the stadium, but they believe the lots will open at 10:00am. We will gather in the lots just south of the stadium in the grass; some food and drinks will be provided but we always ask to bring some stuff to share with everyone.
Sunday 6/13 - USA.Grenada Postgame
Most people are heading out to the airport after the game to head home, we'll no doubt head back to the tailgating site and enjoy ourselves while the parking lot clears out. Some may choose to head back to the Rose & Thistle if they are going to be around Sunday afternoon.
Euro 2004 Games
For those wondering if there is a place in Columbus to see any of the Euro 2004 matches. Crew Stadium is considering being a "host" to watch those matches but a decision has not been made, if they do cost will be $10 per match. I can tell you that Fado's (http://www.fadoirishpub.com/fado_pub_main.php?city=columbus) over at Easton will be carrying the matches with a $20 entry fee per game.
If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to post! Should be an excellent weekend as World Cup Qualifying opens up.

For people coming in from out of town, you can't buy alcohol on Sunday before 1pm. So you would have to pick it up on Saturday. (I think that I am right on this).
And some people in the Columbus area start mentioning to your connections with the press that this is a World Cup Qualifier. A very important match. And we need not to overlook Grenada. And also, WEAR RED!!!

I'm coming from the DC area, so I appreciate the info so far on the board. I still need to book a room...and hints to where most people will be staying from out of town? I understand its OSU's grad weekend (or something like that), so I know rooms are at a premium. Also, let's continue to update the board about where to party at night. If I'm driving 6+ hours to Columbus, I'll need some stiff drinks...and plenty of them.

FWIW, the Thistle opens at 4 PM on Sundays. Which is great. They used to open at 5 on Sundays, which could have possibly altered some plans.
Just a general heads up.

I'm getting really hyped for the game. I'm driving in from Pittsburgh. I have my PhD qualifying exams the week before, so this was perfect timing for a little R & R. Six weeks of studying almost non stop, except for a little bigsoccer action, and a WC qualifier as the light at the end of the tunnel.

A couple of things. Several people are working on a Saturday night post-Crew/Pre-US party which should be announced shortly. On Saturday Fado's at Easton WILL BE showing the opening Euro 2004 games and hopefully people will make it there. Crew Stadium is still only considering showing the games while Fado's has already committed. Since the price is set by Setanta it will end up being the same at both, which I believe is $10 game/$20 day. The games on Saturday are Portugal-Greece and Spain-Russia. Again it is still up in the air whether Crew Stadium will show the Euro games, but Fado definitely will.
There was also talk about organizing a kick around at OSU on that Saturday as well. Hopefully any updates will be posted here and/or at the Sam's Army site.
Hope to see everyone in Columbus!

I am so up for these matches, people. I'm flying in Saturday afternoon, renting a car, attending both matches, and flying back home Sunday evening. The wife and kids are staying home, so I'm definately going to be a duck out of water.
If you see a 5'11", 180 lb, sandy-blonde, 30-something guy walking around by himself wearing a Crew or Nats scarf, welcome him with a beer. ;)

Goes double for me, with me being thousands of miles away and all.
Those going to Columbus-- and even those going to Grenada for the away leg-- live it up and make it a great time for those of us who can't make it.
Those of us in the latter category, we'll just live vicariously through the rest of you. :)

Here's a map to the Rose & Thistle. I'll post directions a bit later on. I'm not liking the map that yahoo is giving me.

I have a friend who may be arriving before I do and we plan to meet at the tailgate. Can anyone say what flags, signs, etc., he should look for in the south lot? Thanks!
