Actually I just had an idea; if'in ya'll want to keep the seafaring theme going; how about the 'Tars'? 'Tar' old slang for a British sailor.


Why the need for a theme at all? How about this as a theme--soccer, supporting the Caps. That's it. Isn't that enough? Sure pick a name and maybe target a demographic but do we really need to go Disney on this? Themes and TIFO should arise organically/naturally/in response to the game, circumstances, events that happen on the pitch. For eg. at this years TFC/Caps Nutrilite match, the Southsiders brought a bunch of inflatable blow up red patch girls to make light of TFC's "plastic" fans. That's what I'm talking about -- themes that are particular, with context, that arise in response to competition on the field or rivalries in the stands.

This nonsense about picking a theme is putting the cart before the horse. Support the team, enjoy the match, chant, bang your drum, but for the good name of our city, let Captain Vancouver go down with his ship already.

I totally agree with you. That is the only way to have true long term support I think.

I was just thinking that if people or person, were really set on the sailing ship thing, there might be a way forward for him/them with some tweaks

as for the name, anything that doesn't sound like it could be a sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean would be good..

I'm not sure which idea is worse. The sailor themed supporters group or Philly's team initials being P.U. then topping it off with a snake logo that looks like a big brown 3 coil steamer.

At least the sailor idea will die a fast and with any luck painful death, sad to say the P.U. mocking, tifo, photoshopping isn't going anywhere.
