Hey guys,

Soccer newbie, and an American, so please type slow so I can read the responses. It seems to me that Rangers and Celtic are the only bonafied contenders in the Scottish league, could they or would they ever enter the EPL? If the ydid, how would they do?

It won’t happen. Sky would like to see it happen. But outside of Man U and Liverpool none of the other teams would let it happen. It’s simple. With the amount of money and size of our fan base we would be up challenging to win it within a few seasons. The estimated money which would be put into each team if this happened is about £300m.

imradioguy,

You might want to poke around a bit on Big Soccer (and the web in general) as this disucssion has come up many times. There's a lot of different takes on it.

IMHO it will never happen simply because it would mean two less places for English teams in the EPL and/or Football League. I don't see them increasing the size of the various divisions to let the Old Firm in, so that means two teams are out. The league just won't go for it.

This old chestnut again eh?

Well lets see, celtic would win it at a canter for the next two decades until the formation of a euro super league which they would win at a canter for ever more.

the huns on the other hand would be lucky to finish above second while we win it at a canter.

But we would still fear playing MLS teams incase we lost and our pride and reputation would be irreprievable, dented forever, were scared in other words.
