After a long absence (I was busy graduating from college) I have finally been able to update the option file......

Included now are:

1. updated MLS rosters (more of the rookies, better player evaluation, better lineups)
2. updated A-league rosters (still not perfect, but all teams have complete rosters)
3. Updated MFL player stats (i also put Hugo Sanchez Jr. into the game)
4. Bonus players now contain MLS legends such as Carlos Valderamma.

once again the file can be downloaded at:

Concacaf V2 (http://plaza.ufl.edu/kdiddy/)

this sounds great but I have a few questions:

1) where can i can a cheap x-port in the US?

2) how do the MLS teams compare to the European teams? I assume you made LA Galaxy far below the levels of AC Milan?

thanks for info.

I bought mine at my local Best Buy. There are plenty of online retailers that sell them.

I've remade all of the teams to be Concacaf clubs... So i used the same rating style as the game originally used (meaning the best concacaf players would be rated the same as the best other players). Originally, i was using a converter from CM4 to make the ratings for each player accuate on a worldwide scale, but then the best MLS players would end up being rated very low of course. As a result games played between teams of players who are all average to mediocre at best were not nearly as fun. Since I remade all of the teams in the game, i decided to up the statistics. Therefore, Carlos Ruiz, Andrés Silvera, Bruno Marioni, Taylor Twellman... these guys are rated in the 90's for attack.

If you dont like that thought process... you can always lower the ratings down using the "Enter Code" section in the game.

I was noticing that I can't modify some of the players in the game.....they are in the team once you play, but they arent on any rosters....Is there any way I can change this?

The reason for this is that the game uses the defualt rosters in the "edit mode." The players are in the database somewhere, usually on another club team. It certainly does make it a pain to find/edit them. What palyers are you looking for? I have a pretty good idea where the different players are. The easiest way to edit would be to use the program I used to edit the rosters... EditPES3... this program shows you the players in the correct locations.

BTW- what players are you editing? Have you noticed some glaring mistakes? I am always looking for corrections. In fact, I have come up ith several new corrections since version 2!

Nice job!

Just two corrections regarding the MLS logos:

1) The official San Jose Earthquakes logo used on the jerseys has silver-colored rays (http://www.mlsnet.com/imgs/logos/sj_lg.gif), not the yellow-colored rays version you used here (http://plaza.ufl.edu/kdiddy/).

2) Does the Colorado Rapids still use the logo you used? I'm not sure...

I hope that helped. :)

By the way, as I'm not that familiar with X-port: is this patch for the PC version or for console-system memory cards?

I made it for my console system, but it does work with the PC version as well. I am not sure (since I have never used the PC version).. but it may simply work if you put it in the proper folder. If it doesnt, it is probably just a recognition issue. Simply rename the file so it has the same extension as the other option file(s). If all that fails, I know some have been able to convert it between types using this (http://perso.numericable.fr/~ryannick/) program.

About the badges, I apologize for the SJ error. Did they change the badge recently? I used this (http://www.hqfl.dk/) site to create many of the flags since they created the badges in a high quality manner. Unfortunately, I dont have easy access to the programs I used to create the flags (I used my former college's multimedia computers to create them). They arent terribly difficult to make, but the programs to make them do cost a lot! :D

No, the silver-colored rays version of the badge has always been the official one since the team changed its name to the San Jose Earthquakes just prior to the 2000 season (the team had a different name from 1996-1999, with a completely different-looking badge).

I think that the yellow-rays version was initially created as an alternate logo, but was quickly dropped from use for the most part - that version never made its way onto the jerseys. It's interesting to note that when the Earthquakes are televised, both ABC/espn2 and Fox Sports Net Bay Area use the correct silver-colored rays version of the badge, while Fox Sports World and MLS Wrap use the incorrect yellow-colored rays version.

As for Colorado's badge, I believe that this (http://www.mlsnet.com/imgs/logos/col_lg.gif) is what is now used on its jerseys.

Hey, after trying to do some editing myself, I can really appreciate the time that someone like you has put into the game. Thanks a bunch. I have a question though. I really love being able to play with MLS teams, but really don't care for having the other concaaf teams. In fact, I'd prefer just to have MLS teams, along with most of the other teams the game comes with(the MLS teams replacing some of French and Greek teams). Is it possible to pick and choose from your patch, or am I pretty much stuck with having to start from scratch to get what I want? I figure it would be easy enough for me get the real flags for the european teams and do player editing where necessary, but making the MLS on my own seems a bit tough. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There isnt a way to pick and chose the teams, but there is a fairly easy way to insert the players into the game. Using the program I linked to above, it is possible to create new players using CM4 data. This will only insert the name and attributes, not appearances. You could use my file as a guide for those, as I've tried to do many of the MLS player appearances.

FYI- from doing this file I have learned a lot about the different CONCACAF leagues, so while they may not be of interest to you now-- given a little bit of research/playing you may well develop some interest. I enjoyed watching UNAM v. Atlas on Sunday... then playing that game as well.... :D

Hey Crash......thanks for the tip, the PES edit program works really well......there aren't any mistakes, the rosters for the teams are good so far....I've just been messing with the Mexican league teams.....I just changed some of the kits a little bit , but most of them were pretty good.....I noticed you didn't have Mario Perez in the Nexaca roster, I just added him....although he may not be playing for them much longer......the main thing I've been doing is just changing the physical appearance.....everything else is fine....

p.s. If you let me know how to send you the option file, I can send you my version with the updated appearance for Mexican league players...

I just bought WE7. I believe it is not the international version. So I was wondering if the option file would still work or not. I really want to play as the Mexican League. If it won't work. Do you know of any out there that will? Thank you

It will work, although it may need to be converted. Try it first, but if it doesnt work use the program i have linked to earlier in this thread to convert it.

Also, a fan of Mexican soccer is doing some of the faces (and some attributes) so a newer version should be out soon with a more accurate Mexican first division (as of this past season... not the new season with the new clubs, draft results etc)

NOTE FOR MLS fans: I've added more realistic kits, ALL the current players, rosters, etc... so this will be updated as well for the next release.

sfkicker: did you try using those programs i linked to earlier on? They can definetly do it, you just have to "Save As", etc...

extra note: Its been a while since i've updated, but a third release is coming out this week. It has almost exact kits, all the MLS players, custom appearances for 95% of the league...

the last bit i am waiting for is what team Sztela lands on...

I also redid more of the bonus players to include a bunch of the All time US greats... some as far back as 80 years ago (guys like Billy Gonsalves). It's a bit of a history lesson as you play :)

Thanks Crash. I tried the EditPES3 but can't seem to get the patch loaded correctly. I tried last night but I might have not been alert enough to get it working. I tried again today but had the same results. I can see the rosters but can't seem to get them in the game. In fact, once I load it, I can't find any teams. I'll keep trying. I'm probably missing something quite obvious which is preventing me from getting it.

My understanding is that I only need the x-port for loading to console memory. If I'm wrong then maybe that's the problem I'm encountering as I don't have one.

No you are correct. It should work on your PC system if you just "save as" with the proper extension for the PC version.

Note: I have sent out the next edition to be hosted on the website. It should be up within 24 hours. I'll post a new thread about it in this forum. This file is a lot better in terms of appearance... both of the teams and the players. :D
