Germany and Scotland would bring Passion???? You're kidding right? Both teams are useless. Fact.

however I can see England picking one of the two as they might have a chance of beating them.

Whereas up against the Football revolution under Brian Kerr you would see a classic performance and the England boys being whupped yet again....

The Brian Kerr revolution? A team that gets crushed by the likes of Russia and Switzerland? A team that won't qualify for another major tournament?

I think you should play us. We won the 2nd last game at Wembley (even though you won the play off).

It has to be a team which will make a bit of passion in the game so the only real choices should be Scotland or Germany and it would be more fitting to play us, I think.

We are ********e but we're getting better.

Fine. You bring the passion. We'll just get bored as we thump you.

I think you'll find that was Germany, and we thumped them in the return leg!

I mean the last England - Scotland game at Wembley. I am aware you lost the last ever game at old Wembley as weel as the 2nd last.

Yeah, but we had already decisively won the first away leg and gone to a major championship at your lot's expense. A sweet feeling.

The first match at the new Wembley should be the LDV Vans Trophy Final.

England should not play their home matches there but remain rotating them around the country. They will receive far more passionate support than they would at Wembley which is a waste of money no matter how good it might one day look.

Yeah but you did fcuk all when you got there. We got a good laugh out of that too.

To win the last game at Wembley, and play you lot off your own park, was sweet enough. And we laughed even more when you lost your final game to the Germans.

Losing your 2 last games there to Scotland and Germany, you coulndn't have scripted it worse.

IMHO,

England should play:

(1) Scotland - continue the long rivalry; or
(2) Brazil - best in the world (even though it'll be another "meaningless friendly").

As a last resort, Australia (since an Australian company Multiplex is building the new Wembley stadium) would be available, to give England a chance at denting Australia's long-time dominance of England in just about every international sport they play against each other.

No-one scripted it, because no-one cared. Euro 2000 was poor, but there was still another victory over Germany and the end of Keegan, two big positives.

Positive.... now there's a word Scottish football has never heard in its entire history :D Looking forward to seeing Scotland fail to qualify for another major tournament again, now that's a far bigger laugh than anything your mangy lot can come up with about England ;)

Thats fine. Except that there is more chance of a snowball thriving in hell than the FA from turning away now they have ploughed so much money into it!

Gordon you seem like a decent sort but you've fallen into the classic Scottish trap of trying to make some mileage out of the fact that we lost the last two games at Wembley. And let's face it, the Scots are in no position to laugh at anything England do on the football field.

As has been pointed out, we may have lost both those games but we won both the corresponding away fixtures in style. What would you honestly have preferred - losing at Wembley yet going to Euro 2000, or failing to qualify yet having the 'satisfaction' of beating England?

If you'd rather celebrate a hollow 'victory' over England than go to a major tournament then I have to say I don't understand that attitude at all......

And we may have crashed and burned spectacularly out in Holland/Belgium but I had a fantastic time out there and thoroughly enjoyed the tournament.

I still want us to play the skirt-wearing, haggis shaggers!

I asked Wembley the when/who question and they replied that the first game is supposed to be the 2006 Cup Final, but but but, if they get finished early, then there is the strong likelihood of England playing a friendly before then!

Other than that, it won't be 'til after the WC in Germany - suppose we could play the winners - nah, can't play ourselves can we? :D

Obviously I would rather we won the tie but it was a crumb of consolement to win the last England/Scotland game at old Wembley.

You can't deny us a little enjoyment from seeing England fail, especially at Euro2000, if you'd done well, it would have made us feel worse.

And of course I would love to go and see Scotland in a major tournament, regardless of our scores. But unfortunately, now I'm old enough to go, we seem to be going through our worst spell in decades.
