Any other posters feel that we need a new national anthem. God save the queen is ok but is out of date with many English peoples views, I mean, who actually cares about the queen for gods sake. An anthem that actually mentioned something about England in it would be better don't you think?

I like God Save the Queen better than the Star Spangled Banner......... Probably not so good to have a national anthem about war when we're attacking half of the middle east. My vote goes to America the Beautiful- it's a lot more peaceful.

We should keep God Save the Queen.... but make it the sex pistols version
If not that then we should use either a reworked version of the A Team theme, or possibly the Imperial March tune from Star Wars (the music that plays when Darth Vader is walking about).
Any of these is fine with me.

The imperial march tune would be class. It would give us a real sinister presence that would strike fear into our opponents. We also have the evil English accents to go with it, just like all the commanders in the first three films (or should that be the last three)

Jerusalem, the others are Brit anthems and should be banned.

Jerusalem is a bit too christian and god bothering for me.
How about Lust for Life by Iggy Pop as used in Trainspotting?

If not God Save The Queen, then the only one to change to is Jerusalem.

It has to be "Land of hope & Glory" for me. I have a CD called England Anthems & the full version of Land Of Hope & Glory with a full on choir is on there & without fail every time I listen to it, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

What about the theme tune to Grange Hill. We could have Zammo, Tucker Jenkins and fat Rolland singing it.

Land of Hope and Glory is more about England.

Can you imagine if our national anthem is Hail to the Chief (President)?

Ehhhh I like the Star-Spangled Banner, it's better than God Bless America or America the Beautful.
BTW I think Land of Hope and Glory would be a nice change, leave God Save the Queen as the British national anthem.

Land of Hope and Glory is a Brit anthem even if it wasn't written as such. It was hijacked by Brits, just listen to it and try not to imagine the Union flag flapping in the wind.

"Knees up, Mother Brown". Now that's a tune.
I think we should have something called "Union Jack, it's the flag for me, call me British, I don't care" or something though.
Just so as I can see if it's possible to hear explosions in Bolton from here in Liverpool. :D

It sounded like Land of Hope and Glory played on many graduation marches in the US. I was watching the home video of my high school graduation ceremony recently, and its music sounded like the one in England.
