Okay so i heard about this a few weeks ago but didn't think it newsworthy as nothing has been confirmed in terms of there being actual Salvadoran players being chosen to go to England. But Futbol E.S. Por Vida posted it up in another thread so i thought i may aswell open up it's own specific one instead of it being out of place. So here it is.

The English Premier League is a more physical league, and we know our players are not very physically gifted compared to Honduran, Costa Rican, and Panamian, having said that any player from El Salvador that Ian Rush takes to England we will know has real talent not just a 6ft 14-16 year old. Hopefully they take somebody from El Salvador.

Hey don't forget Robinho is short but his goal scoring, skills/tricks, and speed make up for that. I think they can find a skillful and fast player in El Salvador.
They say that they are looking for U-16 players....But from what FESA, U-16 National team, or what?

Hey, i heard manchester united as well.
IMO, the only barcley's PL-worth type of player in central-america is the guy palacios from honduras.
Honestly, i don't ever see a player from El salvador mentally or physically capable of playing at such level.

Agreed, at the moment there is no one that is ready to play at that level. In the future maybe, but right now, i just can't see it.
Personally though i'd prefer players in Spain or even Portugal and France. I don't really rate the PL all that highly :D

Today was the first day of the tryouts in El Salvador. Tomorrow will be another full day of tryouts and then the announcement will be made on Wednesday in regards to which six players will be taken to England. Fingers crossed one of our guys gets a chance to go over; even if it is only for the trial period, it would still be a great opportunity.

Yeah atleast get one of them over there and get some recognition so that they keep an eye out for other young talents and probably older players if they're lucky.

OK, el magico gonzalez, it's a living proof of it, he basically turned down contracts from such wealthy clubs like barcelona and juventus.
"EVER" stands for: we'll never see such teams like MAN U or C, signing a contract with any player from la selecta.
sucks, i know, but they'll rather invest their time/money/scouts on the much better talented honduran, costa rican, and even panamas best youth players:(
BTW; i was thinking of Shawn Martin. hopelly he can catch the attention of a scout from the EPL or even 1st or 2nd DIV alikes.:D

Suazo can do it why can't someone in La Selecta can't?
Shawn Martin european material? Lol could play in Mexico or South America but Europe to much for him in my opinion maybe 2nd division in England.

Good for him. Hopefully he can make the most of the opportunity and do his best to stay on.
Obviously would have been better for us to have more going, but what can you do. In the end it'd be great if whoever is chosen (be it Mendonza or one of the others) can stay on and work his way up the ranks. If they can manage4 to impress, then they could make this trip more often which would be great for our younger players.

But where did they find Mendoza never heard of this young player...Is he from FESA or where?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was. I mean if you consider that half the kids that he saw were from the U16's then i think it's safe to say that atleast a few of them would be from FESA. The other half were just randoms that impressed during pre-trial trials, so who knows where they are from. Could be from FESA, but could just as easily be from FundaMadrid, Academia la Chelona or FundaMagico; could also just a kid that turned up to training with no prior connections. Guess we'll have to wait it out to see if they give out any more info in the next couple of days.

Not surprised. We have a lot of promising talent. I just wish he went to Arsenal, were he would really grow quickly.

The way i see it, every country was always going to have atleast one player selected to go to Manchester. So with that said, i think it's dissapointing that he only chose one from El Salvador. It's the bare minimum; and seeing as he chose two from both Costa Rica and Panama i think it's fair to say that he saw something more in their players then he did ours. Hopefully our one player can make the most of the opportunity though and show the people in Manchester that he's better than the rest. If not, then again hopefully who ever does get to stay can work there way up and Manchester or other EPL clubs can do scouting trips like this more often in the future.
