I for one was completely thrown by Wenger's elaborate smoke screen.

Its the secret that everyone knew. Questionable? Probably, But it shows how loyal he is to protecting his players and thanfully he hasn't been put in the position to regret it yet.
Now if you want to see a real tragedy of a coach/team not speaking up to say what is right even if his players/team gets hurt, see the phantom goal this weekend at the Crystal Palace match.

Arse may have a blind eye, but I'm not sure he would jepordize the game to be right.

I have a lot of respect for Wenger. I don't always like what he says or does, but then thats probably got a lot to do with him being a rival.
I'm sure he would have owned up to that incident because he replayed that cup game, after Kanu stole the ball after it had been kicked off for injury.
