Provided the hate comes with a case full of silverware, I'll be more than comfortable with it.

People already hate chelsea b/c the team have bought a crap load of players and have no silverware to show for it. Ranieri is a great manager and everyone seems to want him to be sacked! he did very well with a bunch of super greedy ego's all crammed into one team. you have high earning players who never play (veron, mutu, duff...) injury or not your best player is lampard and he was already on the books at chelsea before the billions arrived. everyone in the football world regards chelsea as pretenders.
that one day is here...people hate chelsea already!

Its been one year. Sheesh.

Ranieri is a great manager and everyone seems to want him to be sacked!

Who's this "everyone"? Pretty much everyone on this board wants him to stay. The person who likes him the least is sinner, and he's not a Chelsea fan ;)

he did very well with a bunch of super greedy ego's all crammed into one team. you have high earning players who never play (veron, mutu, duff...)

Duff never played? Um, OK........we played our best football of the year when he was on the left and Veron on the right in October. As for super greedy egos - I didn't see too much dissension from the Chelsea locker room this year.

injury or not your best player is lampard and he was already on the books at chelsea before the billions arrived.

Perhaps. But players like Bridge, Johnson, Makelele and Duff have hardly embarrassed themselves, now have they? Parker was YPOTY, Cole has had a decent season, Crespo's goal per start is actually quite good, etc. etc. Lets not pretend we bought like Mssr. Houllier, shall we? For all that Geremi has been mediocre, there wasn't a single El Hadj Diouf or Bruno Cheyrou in this lot.

everyone in the football world regards chelsea as pretenders.

Riiiight. Remind me, when was the last time Liverpool actually contended for the title as late in the season as we did? Or the last time they were in the CL semis? Are you sure you know what "pretender" means?

that one day is here...people hate chelsea already!

Eh. I don't see it. People dislike us because we can buy a lot of players, but hate? No, that's usually reserved for teams that win things. We're getting there.

I, as a Real Madrid fan, don't hate you guys yet. But you're starting to annoy a lot of people by driving up prices, buying good young players only to either loan them out or sit them (how are Robben, Duff, Lampard, Parker, and Cole -- all U-23, I believe-- all going to play?). But since you guys are in the EPL and haven't really made any real noise in the CL (this year being an off year for the usual heavyweights :) ) I'm not worried enough to call it 'hate'...

Well thanks! Although saying we didn't make any noise in the CL is a bit odd, no?
Btw, Lampard is about 26, and Parker is 24, IIRC. Duff is @24 too, I think. They're not THAT young.
I could actually understand you disliking us, too - with Makelele, I have a feeling you wouldn't be sitting on 5 consecutive losses in La Liga.

Heck, I don't really even hate you guys, even though you keep stealing all our transfer targets (but I really really wanted Robben!). I think its pretty likely that Chelsea will win silverware in the near future, that's to be expected. But to be hated, it has to happen consistently, and you've got to have annoying, arrogant, glory-hunting fans as well. Also having a coach who is a bit full of himself wouldn't hurt (Ranieri didn't seem that way, but Mourinho is most certainly). Winning a couple of championships probably won't quite do it (see: Everton), but if you all can succeed over the long term, it just might happen.

And then we'll see how you like being invaded by trolls! ;)

did you remember 2002 when liverpool finished second almost winning the title that year too...we finish second to arsenal by a lesser margin than you did this year! and veron barely had an impact, he was hurt all year. duff had a bigger impact but he is an injury prone player. with credit to chelsea they have exploded onto the football scene but have very little to show for it (why would your manager fear for his job if there was in fact something to show for it) so yes, i do know what pretender means. it means you had billions to spend and didnt even get any silverware.

The forum ban is a wonderful thing you know..;)

Qphaha, Millwall, Fulham, Leeds, Grimsby, Brighton and Hove, those are the teams that hate us.Have done so for years - but, that wasn't the type of hate i think he ment when writing that article.

Yes, you finished second that year - but then you fell apart, and have continued falling.
Changing your manager may do a little good next season, then again maybe it won't.The simple truth of it is that your current squad is not top three quality.End of.

Funny you mention Veron - how did that Aussie work out this year?
Played all season too didn't he?

Far more positives than negatives at our club right now my friend and for the couple of players (Veron and Geremi) that didn't work out, there is the shining lights that are Wayne Bridge and Glen Johnson. The future starting full backs at international level as well as club.
I think all would agree that young Gallas was an excellent pick up as well don't you?
Nothing needs to be said about Duff as he is simply class.

Can you name three stand out players that Houlier bought?....arggg, wait, thats a tough one...can you name just one stand out?

Yeah but Motterman is a bit laissez-faire in that sense. Can't say I mind it, as it kept the hilarity going during some of the more depressing parts of this recent season.

Everybody hates Chelsea anyway, today, tomorrow, this week, next week, next month, next year - Especially the way that RA and PK have treated CR.

Although it is no surprise for me that GH got the push from Liverpool, it certainly was a surprise to see that he got it quicker than CR.

CR is now at home in Rome, waiting his fate - why wait. I dont know. I am off to Rome in two weeks and I hope to bump into the great man and shake him by the hand. I suspect though that CR will still be with us next year.

Everybody hates us - not because we got money and that we can sign anybody we want, not that we win trophies, after all we haven't won anything for nearly four years - you can't count the Malaysia Cup can you???? But my God have we come close!!!! But to repeat myself its the way that the club has conducted its business towards CR himself. I have said it too many times before. CR has nothing to be ashamed off. The fans love him, the general footballing public love him, all other fans love him. He is a man of dignity, integrity, of passion, and a true Roman. He lives by the sword that Rome wasn't built in a day. He has got more chance of winning trophies for Chelsea next year then anybody else that PK or RA decide to bring in.

Everybody hates Chelsea!!!

But to be hated, it has to happen consistently, and you've got to have annoying, arrogant, glory-hunting fans as well.

The chants of "Have you ever been to Manchester in your life are still ringing in my ears."

When Man U were at their peak in the 90s every man and his dog was a United fan. Except anyone actually FROM manchester who supported City (mostly).

Before that, when I was at school all my peers were Liverpool fans (mid to late 80s). Being the one of only half-dozen Arsenal fans in a school in North London is just well - wrong

Now Arsenal are on top of their game and shock horror - its the same all over again, and sooner or later it will happen to Chelsea too.

The thing is most of these fans just ruin club image when they spout of their uninformed BS. Its not until you go on a loosing streak that you get rid of em.

Most of the Man U fans I know who have been fans for years are more than prepared t o eat humble pie when they fall short by 15 points. Most of the gooners I know are prepared to eat humble by when they take only the F.A cup.

Unfortunatly its the glory hunters who have never been to a live game in their life (non-UK residents not withstanding of course) that are the most vocal in there opinions.

I wonder if I asked "what is significant about 1971" in the arsenal forum not many could answer. The same is true of United forum I dare say.

Trolls eh. Whod have em
