After being let go by United, Ray dropped off the map. Even players like Olsen hadn't heard from him, but....

I just turned on the France-Brazil match on GolTV, and Ray's doing color commentary.

It's good to see Ray land on his feet and tackle a job that's probably more up his alley. And less stressful which translates to a healthier Ray. We may not have liked his coaching/managerial moves, but I always found that he was a decent guy.

That is good news. I've talked with Ray at least a half dozen times and really liked him. I liked his passion for the game and his passion for the fans. He is a really nice person and I miss having him around dishing out his Rayisms. :)

Wish him all the best.

Ray needs to be hired by either FSW or ESPN. He's just too funny. :D

I'll be damned...I'm watching the France-Brazil replay right now. He definitely needs to get picked up by someone, preferably FSW. He would sound great commenting on the Eredivisie.

Good for Ray! The guy is passionate about soccer and was born to be a commentator. FSW telecasts would be greatly improved if they were to hire him.

When I saw the thread title, I thought this was going to be about last night's game. Good Ray has an indoors job.

Keep him on TV, and away from the field. Dangerous things occur when he is around a soccer field.

Yeah like Miami kicking the tar out of us...

Seeing our current incarnation of United is hardly steam rolling the league I think we can all say that the problems with our team and organization went much deeper then Mr. Hudson.

--Not saying that Ray was the answer but as we continue to lose I think its obvious he wasnt all to blame either...

You could quite fairly state that another way. Since we are hardly steamrolling the league, I think we can all say that we haven't been able to recover from the damage he did to the team and organization.

Note that I don't believe that, necessarily, but I would hesitate to make judgements about Hudson or Nowak based upon their records with other coaches' selections.

For what it's worth, we're better now than we were the year before he showed up.

The next time Ray speaks, I'd sure like to hear him explain why he took David Stokes over the likes of Pat Noonan, Shavar Thomas, Damani Ralph, Ricky Lewis and Todd Dunivant.

And, explaining why he gave no PT to Brian Carroll would be nice, too.

And, explaining why he gave no PT to Brian Carroll would be nice, too.Let me try, channeling Ray:

1. Well, the draft is a mighty crap shoot, don'tcha know. I let me buddies John Trask and Dave, whazisname, Kasper tell me who the college boys are, I don't pay the NCAA no nevermind. Who'da guessed Noonan wouldn't suck, and that Jamaican kid, well, I hate to help our CONCACAF rivals, and Dunivant, well, we just bought us a real nice older hairy-chested Bulgarian, we won't be needn' no defenders for a few years now.

2. These little rookies are so high-maintenance, who's got time for them. Oh sure he says he can play a defensive midfield slot, but according to my MLS coaches chart, he's too skinny for that job, you need to be a fireplug. And he came from West Springfield, I lived in Reston, that's Southlakes territory, 'nuff said. They're just too raw, they drive a coach crazy. I'd have played David Stokes, but I was afraid the posters on BigSoccer would crucify the poor lad

Ray's pretty cool. My wife and I met him at Charlotte airport late last August. Normally I leave people be, but I had to hear the voice. While waiting in line to go on the plane we briefly talked about the team, the sport in general and Florida, which was where we were coming from. I wish him luck and I hope he gets more commentary gigs.
