What are you're thoughts on the new signing I see him as a chance to put together a strong back three in Sorensen Laursen and Mellberg. An all scandnavian back three sounds good to me
Thoughts?
What about possibilities of Van Bommel and Yakubu as well.

The Laursen signing looks a very solid one for us. He`s signed a four year deal like Mellberg did a couple of weeks ago and if they can build up an understanding quickly we should be OK at the back for the next few years.
Van Bommel is one we`ll just have to wait on. I`m not sure he`s that great a midfielder but I`m starting to trust O`Learys judgment on these things and if DO`L thinks he could partner McCann then we should go for him. Spurs will be tough competition though. I heard we might offer Allback + £1.5m, so if PSV want Allback then I can see that happening.
Yakubu is a complete non-starter. He`s too similar to Vassell. Baros from Liverpool for £2.5 or Bridges on a free are the type of Strikers I think we`ll end up going for.

Might be right about Yakubu has scored 16 goals this season but 4 where in the last game and has looked shocking when he has to think about finishing (eg. Arsenal match) yep would be similar to Vassel.
Have said we may let Allback go so maybe a trnasfer with him included may tempt PSV.

I understand that it`s still possible we`ll sign Baros, but for £3m. If he scores against the Danes and the CR progress then it will be increasingly unlikely we`ll get him.

Martin Laursen
Solid defender, very strong in the air.
As must have been seen at Euro2004, very effective.
He and Mellberg together will provdie Villa with a nice backline.
Barry and Samuel on the wings.
Sorenson in goal and u look effective.
Hitzlsperger improves and Whittingham comes up great.
Angel stays and bangs home a boatload again, u got urself a team to push for Europe.
Vassell is way overrated.
