"The place I probably know best is D.C.," said Anderton, noting how Tottenham has traveled across the Pond to take on United in friendlies a few times in recent years. "I would presume that that would be the best thing for me. New York, of course, would be a nice place to play. It all varies, club to club."
Is it to premature to get excited right now? How would be afford it?

It will never happen so don't worry about it

I'm not sure why anyone would be excited to get Anderton.

I was wondering the same thing. He is a decent midfielder but he has had some serious injuries which cause him to miss matches, and a 32 year old with injuries is something this team doesn't need IMHO

Because Convey and Quaranta would have a new injured friend when they were out injured?

He was seen at Summers once for an England game a few years back.

I don't know. It's definitely an interesting idea. He's got size and can take excellent free kicks and corners, two things we're definitely missing in the midfield. There's the injury thing, but I don't see him being any less productive than Q2 and Q1 combined.

The two bugaboos with him are cap space and injury. He's a really good player and those who don't think so, Gunners excepted, are smoking crack. I can't see this happening but I certainly wouldn't be upset to have him in the squad. I know he can shoot (acurately) from outside.
I lay odds at 15/2 against.

So if he comes here, then Convey goes there - would that be basically trading players with an EPL club. That almost sounds prestigeous ;)
With these guys that get released, it's almost always "Fine, I'll take my ball and go to the States", but then someone offers them a chance to help pull up a struggling club or some nonsense and they stay in cold damp England, or wherever.
That being said, I have no idea who this guy is.

And Anderton would have to buy the beer if he arrives before May 27! :D

From my post on ussocceruk.com,
"... Anderton is the more interesting story. Especially since the article says he has talked with an MLS club and then he mentions DC and the Mutts. From what it sounds like he was saying NY because of the life there and DC more because of the soccer. I know DCU could really use some good service on corners and free-kicks (42 games and counting without a goal off a corner) so I actually wouldn't mind seeing this happen especially if Convey leaves for Europe."

I'm not the type to herald old European players coming to MLS in the twilight of their careers. But if Anderton can truly help DC...then why the hell not? As long as he's affordable. However, how many old EPL players are going to be linked w/ MLS this season? Yorke, Cole, Anderton, who else Sherringham, Desailly?

Because some around here would prefer to waste time on the Tyson Nunez pipe-dream is why not.
Cap space would have to be created but right now Q1 and Q2 have done nothing more than take up space.
I say if only one player would be lost from the current United roster to make the numbers work then what the heck why not bring him in.
Can anyone say he would be less productive than Ivanov was last year??
