Henry is out for the match....no big deal. Let's give some of the fringe players a good run out in this one, let's see what they've got. I'm sad Nasri couldn't be involved in this one. But then again, maybe I don't want him to get kicked up and down that field, as I imagine les Feroiens will play.

Another game where the opposition will just play defence , I'm actually not confident :o

We struggle when teams play this way , yeah these aren't the best team in the world but I don't expect a 5-0 .. Probably 1-0 in the 80th minute or something .

i expect the team to score, at the very least 3 goals in this match. Come on man have some faith lol! You could go around to a couple of metro stops and find 11 mecs who could beat the Faroes.

Hey does anybody remember when les bleus went to play the Faroe islands for euro qualification, and the plane almost crashed on landing?? I think Henry nearly soiled himself.
well maybe we wont see Remy after all then lol: http://www.francefootball.fr/FF/breves2009/20090810_213034_remy-et-sa-peur-bleue-de-l-avion.html

I read in L'equipe that Gallas maybe getting the armband on weds. What is everyone's thoughts on that? Seeing that he got stripped of that honor at his club, it seems like a strange choice. Not that I agree that he should have. Though I firmly believe captains mean much less at the international level, and it mostly just a gesture of senority and respect who it goes to.

You're right .

It's just Les Bleus hasn't given me a performance in a very long time where I thought we looked good and comfortable .

Gallas wouldn't be my choice for the armband but there's limited choices and he'll be the most experienced on the field so it makes sense .

If Domenech uses 2 defensive midfielders they have mental problems.

Looks like Squillaci is to partner Gallas in la charnière centrale. I think Mexes is done people. no call up. He's had his chance and has contiuned to look from average to terrible in bleu. Don't know what his deal is, but he can't transfer his supposed excellence from club to country.

The way Domenech has treated Mexes is very unfair , now every time he puts on the bleu jersey he has extra pressure .

why don't les Bleus play in a 4-4-2 diamond like Bordeaux do?

Obviously Gourcuff is familiar with that and the team would be more offensive than the current impotent formation.

Oh be serious, you can't actually believe that. I think Mexes apologists, are just Domenech haters in disguise. It's obvious that he is a dropable player, there are alot of them. When you get your chance, you have to prove you deserve to be there, end of story. Instead he proves that he doesn't and it's Ray's fault?? Of course there's pressure, only people who don't feel it are Titi, Franck, Benz and Gallas to a lesser extent. Every other player could lose, or has lost their spot at one time another on this national team. Mexes needs to grow a pair.

I'd be suprised if Domenech doesn't go with this ...

Mandanda still favourite over Lloris ?

Playing two DM's against Faroes LMAO .

Waiting until the 70th minute when the score is 0-0 to go more offensive ...

So boring , does he have any other ideas ?

Dude , just look at how Domenech has treated Mexes in the past . He took a past-it Thuram to the WC 06 while Mexes was putting in great displays for Roma , Mexes didn't even make the squad . Mexes has been a warrior for Roma for atleast 3 years now , how many appearances in bleu has he made ?

Look at JAB , he puts in average performances , yet still makes the squad .. He sucked against Romania . Abidal was ridiculous in Euro 2008 yet he's still in Domenech's plans .

When Mexes is called , Domenech doesn't even give him a game .

It's obvious Domenech doesn't like him , same goes for Flamini . So obviously Mexes will know any mistake he makes and he's done , just gives another reason to not pick him as far as I see it .

He's made seven appearances in the past 3 years, I'll agree not alot. But it would have been more especially since the beginning of last season, if he would put in a quality performance in here or there. All your talk of other players been average and what not is moot, especially talk of WC 06. Is that what Mexes is thinking about under the hot lights of the Stade de France? He should be focusing on his football, not whether or not he's going to be dropped. Or he wouldn't be. All you're doing is highlighting his mental weakness. All I care about is getting the best players France has to offer on the field. And he has never shown me that. I don't know what personal problems he has with Ray, and frankly I don't care. I guess you must think I hate him too. We'll have to agree to disagree.

and on aside, I don't think JAB should be a french international either, but I've seen him player better than Mexes in that shirt easy.

I can kind of see what the Mexes defenders are saying (im a domenech hater...lets be clear) because its kind of like the Trezeguet situation. Every once in a while 5 of France's strikers will be injured or suspended and Domenech will have no choice but to call up Trezeguet. Now even a few years ago when this would happen, and when Trez was considered one of the top strikers in europe, you could see Trez literally tightening up on the pitch as the game wore on and he hadnt yet even come close to scoring a goal. Then invariably he would get subbed out for Gomis or somebody and he would walk off the pitch looking dejected.

Is this exactly the same as the Mexes situation? no. but who cares. I love talking about Trezeguet and his pitiful treatment from Le Sélectionneur.

LOL I know you do. You can have a good game as a striker and not end up on the score sheet. I know I don't have to tell you that, just reiterating it. Centerbacks are generally made of stronger stuff than you're typical Center forward, wouldn't you agree. That's why I claimed maybe he lacks the mental toughness to be a CB at this level. Serie A be damned, it's a different game at the international level, even if you're playing a team like a Lithuana or an Austria. How is he in the champions league? Was not impressive against the Arsenal, made a number of glaring mistakes. Even got a penalty called on him in the first leg. Maybe It's my biases but I watched him close and I don't see it. Mental toughness.

Lloris has been giving the start, thank God!

Gignac is starting as well, and Escude has jump Toto in to the starting spot...interesting.
