So I decided to pull the plug on my coach. He was the original one of Panatha F.C. and was rated at weak leadership. Picked up a new one for 329700 USD that has inadequate leadership and passable experience. It leaves me in the plus so no worries about money. Didn't want to get the solid coach because it would leave me in the red big time. What are your thoughts?

You did a good job of picking a new coach. The passable experience is meaningless for his job, but his trainer level (passable) is a good upgrade over the previous one. You'll find players will jump levels 2 weeks faster than the old one. The inadequate leadership is a small drawback because he won't be able to maintain TS as well as a solid, but you couldn't have really afforded him. I made the mistake of picking up an inadequate trainer/passable leadership coach. :( Bah. I wish I had done the passable/poor route instead.

Here is my current coach
He dropped to inadequate leadership on March 8, 2004
A passable trainer who is fond of attacking
A sympathetic guy who is temperamental and dishonest.
Has weak experience and inadequate leadership abilities.
So he is passable/inadequate
My TS has been fairly crappy this season after I was very slow recovering from one MOTS. I do have a full clown already.
Should I wait until his leadership drops again or replace him now?
I have approx. $900K in the bank with another $350K coming from Sunday's big league match this weekend.
Then again I am itching to spend this money on a winger or defender!

Money burning a whole in your pocket? :D I had the same thought this morning while I was taking the dogs outside, do I replace my coach now or wait? And then I thought, should I have him quit for health reasons, or should he die in a car accident? I can't fire him, that would be disloyal, i've only had the schlub for a season. I'd rather kill him :) It's more fun

I have the same problem, I can't really fire my coach, he hasn't done anything that would be worth firing, of course neither did Raneri of Chelsea, but he's being fired. I'm looking to save my money and get a solid coach, with probably inad leadership or maybe passable, depending on how much money I can save before the hole in my pocket gets too big and I drop it on something else.

I'll give you the advice that was given to me by Deuteriumoxide when I first started playing: Upgrade your coach. I don't know your economic situation, but my suggestion is to get a passable trainer/poor leadership. The benefits to your training program are immeasurable.

How much is that gonna cost? I figure by the end of the season I will have about $200,000 to spend on a coach.

And why would I want a poor leadership coach? Poor is lower than weak, so that would be a downgrade... isn't leadership good to have for a coach...?
Well, if I really don't need leadership... I could get a passable/weak coach and stay within my budget. Or I could get a solid/poor for only a little more. Which would be better? Or should I just stick with passable/poor and save a lot of money?
Dang, don't know my own power. See next post for my suggestions.

leadership dont matter if you have a good leadershiped player who is in your team anyway. Getting a poor leadership coach with passable training and solid experience was the first thing i ever did in hattrick

getting a poor leadership will just mean that he won't be able to help TS that much, but like what was said about the good leadership player, he can help with the TS.

If you can get a solid trainer/poor leadership that would be even better than the passable/poor. And yes the poor leadership on my earlier suggestion would have been worse than your current coach, but the passable trainer part would have saved you two weeks training time per level. Upgrading further to a solid trainer would save you three weeks.

Does the type of coach he is matter at all? I see they have 'defensive minded' 'fond of attacking' or 'neither'... what does each type do?

that basically depends on what you are training, for instance, for a scoring trainer you'd probably want a fond of attacking coach. I don't remember exactly what the type of coach does for the team, but it has to do with the what you are training if I remember right.

And why would I want a poor leadership coach? Poor is lower than weak, so that would be a downgrade... isn't leadership good to have for a coach...?Leadership gets you better team spirit, which can be useful for winning (especially if you can have a long run of PICs in the Cup). Coaching skill improves your bottom line by training your players quicker and thus maximizing the market value per week trained. Generally, I'd advise against buying a coach with better leadership than weak (and poor will usually be good enough). If you want coaching leadership, get an experienced player with good leadership and convert him to a coach.

Yes! It has an effect on ratings during the game. An offensive coach will boost the ratings of the forwards in the game. Conversely, a defensive coach will boost defensive ratings. It is my understanding the defensive boost is greater than the offensive boost. AFAIK, it has no effect on training.

I made the mistake of getting an inadequate coach when I started off. Now I'm saving up for the solid-weak coach. I should be able to purchase him in the offseason as I'm coming up on 500k in the bank right now.

Dynamo KC had to take the plunge today and got a new coach. Our old trainer had to resign to care for his ailing wife. We now have a solid trainer/poor leadership coach. The benefit is that my 17 newly excellent IM will have two pops next season. All the way to outstanding baby :D
