UEFA Cup Qualification

Hi there,

can anyone tell me whether or not there is an extra UEFA cup place for la liga this season seeing as Valencia have won the competition this year, but will not be able to take their place as winners because they are in the champions league.

Therefore meaning 5th, 6th and 7th would qualify, with 8th and 9th going into the inter-toto cup?

If not does anyone know what does happen?

Good question, but I'm pretty sure it means nothing. Look at Porto last year. Won the UEFA Cup, won the Portuguese League and qualified for the Champions League. I don't know if a 3rd or 4th place team in Portugal was gifted a spot in the UEFA Cup this past year.

I'm going to check Marca, but Malaga was in the running for the last UEFA spot until they tied Real Sociedad last Sunday. Even though they are still able to land in the 7th spot with a little help, I'm pretty sure they still have no chance for UEFA qualification.
