would a mexico national team game in places like columbus, kansas city, washington dc, etc sell out if it wasnt against the usa?

i think it would sell out, not just because of curiosity but people really would want to go see mexico play.

boy this is rich...

YOU of all people come to the USA boards and say No Trolls?? What's next? gonna ask Tom Flannigan if he could represent your sister in a Title IX lawsuit?

anyways...no need to make a thread on this...the question has been answered already. See the attendance for the El Cry match vs Iceland and get back to us.

and why the heck is this posted on the USA board?

you'd get a few hundred people in columbus...

I don't know about Colombus or DC, but the only game that will sellout Arrowhead is with the KC Chiefs or a big 12 Championship game.

We got 37,000 for USA -Costa Rica for a Wednesday school night WCQ. To get to 77,000 for USA-Mexico or Mexico-England or Mexico-Brasil would be a stretch.

Yes, this thread should get moved or closed. :p

Put a hexagonal match in Philadelphia and it would sell out the Linc.....

You are truly delusional if you believe that to be true. Anyhow, just as an example, in 95, I believe, Colombia versus Mexico in DC drew a meager 15 or 16 k.

if it was a friendly against an epl team maybe.
...who would want to watch a no class team like mexico?
they have deminstrated their lack of class over and over again.
...what a waste

That was not the question unless you are implying putting a Mexican home qualfying match in Philadelphia.

I think the past attendence at Mexican friendlies should be a good indication of how the team would do.

it all depends on where the match is...living in dallas of course i went to the usmnt against el cry and there were 40000 cheering for the mexicans but of course we still kicked their ace

Why would non-Mexicans want to see Mexico play? It's not like they're an elite club or national side. One certainly doesn't go to an El Dive match to see the beautiful game.

Here are the matches played in the US since 2002. Not including Gold Cup matches. A little aside, I think that Mexico played less than 5 friendlies at home during the time period.

2002
13 Feb Mexico - Yugoslavia BOB in Phoenix =
13 Mar Mexico - Albania Qualicom Stadium =
4 Apr Mexico - USA Invesco Field = 48,476 not a sell-out
17 Apr Mexico - Bulgaria Giants Stadium =
16 May Mexico - Bolivia at Pac Bell =
19 May Mexico - Milan in LA =

2003
4 Feb Mexico - Argentina in LA =
?? ??? Mexico - Colombia at BOB in Phoenix =
19 Mar Mexico - Boliva at Texas Stadium =
26 Mar Mexico - Paraguary at Qualicom Stadium =
8 May Mexico - USA at Reliant Stadium = 69,582 Sell-out
?? ??? Mexico - El Salvador at HDC =
20 Aug Mexico - Perú at Giants Stadium =
15 Oct Mexico - Uruguay in Chicago =

2004
18 Feb Mexico - Chile at the HDC drew =
31 Mar Mexico - Costa Rica at the HDC =
28 Apr Mexico - USA at the Cotton Bowl = 45,048 not a sell-out

If you can find any other attendence figures it would be interestign to see how many have sold out. My bet would be very few.

i think the curiosity factor and just to be able to watch your arch rival play would be enough to atleast bring in a couple thousand non mnt fans.

No one wants to see their rival play unless the rival is playing your team! I know I certainly wouldn't want to watch a Michigan game unless it was against State. Or a Chicago Bears game unless they were playing the Lions. Screw those guys. :p

I don't think Mexico's national team would draw more than 15,000 people in a city without a large Mexican population unless they were playing against a world power or the US.

Depends on what they are selling out, doesn't it?

Didn't they already sell out the Home Depot Center against Costa Rica earlier this year?
