I wonder how or if this is going to affect ESPN's renewal since their parent company isn't renewing. I'd say the lousy ratings would have more of an affect.

NBC Sports has been decimated by the fact that the major pro and college sports are on other networks, especially cable. The only thing the network has going for it has been the Olympics, and occasionally NASCAR.
But you'd think with the dearth of other sports offerings NBC and the NHL would be willing to broadcast more than seven regular season games on a handful of weekends.
Notre Dame football? Arena League? Please... :p

I thought Marvelous sometimes did Rangers games way back when in addition to the Knicks...

I would. I'd miss all of them, even Melrose (I still despise him for what he did to the Kings). But only 15-18 games all season? That just doesn't feel right.

I believe the Marvelous One got his start on bigtime NY radio in the late 60s broadcasting Rangers games alongside Bill "The Big Whistle" Chadwick, replacing the recently-departed Jim Gordon at the mike. He later added the Knickerbockers to his resume when Marty Glickman retired.
