Reports are that he died of a heart attack today while taking a walk. He was 59.

Man I loved so many of his movies.

Another 80's legend who has done nothing of significance in his selected artform since passes away.

But yeah, he has quite a run. RIP.

Man, that sucks.

The movies were great. And the soundtracks from those movies were largely fantastic.

Wow. That sucks. Looks like it's an 80s marathon weekend for me!

His movies were a big part of my teen years.

2009 has just been weird, obitswise. I am feeling like an old man now. I'll need to get me some Brekky Club on the weekend.

Lots of good stuff, of course, but heading to the theater to see The Breakfast Club with a group of 50 or so of we CMHS class of '85 seniors is a really indellible moment for me.

The soundtrack for Pretty in Pink has to be the best ever. Considering it's American.

Brings a tear to my eye.

Holy shit - he did "Some Kind of Wonderful" too! Mary Stuart Matheson was the 1980's Reese Witherspoon.
