Hi there.
While the last team in Group B has yet to be decided, Toluca will be in alongside D.C. United and Marathón in the upcoming 09-10 CCL group phase.
How many (if any) of you are looking forward to the contest?
Also, how much of an effort are Toluca's FO likely to give to the CCL?

i am looking foward to this. i wish Firpo could have eliminated DC United yesterday though to make things more easy.
And i wouldnt see why toluca wouldnt want to win this so i'd expect them to be playing with their starters and maybe give some youngsters some playing time along the way.
Toluca and DC United will surely make it to the quarterfinals.

I'd like to see D.C. get out of the group, but I would not be so quick to count out Marathón - who managed to get past both United and Saprissa in last year's group phase.
Is there likely to be much in the way of travelling support for Toluca at RFK?
Also, what kind of environment will there be at for Toluca's home games? (Will they be sold out, or half-full, or whatnot?)

theres always going to be a fan support, but they surely wont outnumber the DC United fans. Toluca has no where as many fans as Chivas, America, Cruz Azul or even Pumas here in the states
and Toluca always plays in the early afternoons but im guessing they will have to play at night for these games. And because of this, i suspect the game will be sold out because watching a Toluca game in La Bombonera at night are so rare. hopefully the lights still work lol

DC played their B team last time around, and as you can imagine an MLS B team is really freaking bad.
I'll be going to the game here in DC and will root for Toluca I think, I support DC United, but I think I follow and root for Toluca just a bit more. I'll be bringing some Mexicans with me who will be going for Toluca.

maybe i give DC Untied a little too much credit for being a MLS team, i just thought they are good enough to beat a simple team from god knows where.

They used to be. They were the best club team in the USA for most of the late nineties, early to mid 2000's. But they are rebuilding now, aging, not as good. Good enough to finish near the top of the table, but not good enough to dominate.

They couldn't finish and they gave up a lot of chances (man is Cristante good). But they also dominated possession and I got the feeling that if they really needed a goal, they would have come up with another one. I still think Toluca is the favorite in their group.

Toluca are extremely lucky that a combination of horrible trini finishing/christante greatness were in the mix last night.
I want to see this team try and take it. Pachuca (yes they're still advancing) vs Toluca final. I'm calling it.

good win tonight.
the best thing of all this was the way Macilla never gave up. good to see him score those 2 at the end to boost his confidence for the America game for the weekend

Didn't get to watch because I had to teach a class tonight (pissed me off, Toluca may never come back to DC). But I expected this result, I've been following DC United and they have a pretty subpar team this year.

Be Honest Wolf, just curious, but where was your heart last night...Toluca or D.C.?

It went back and forth. I think it probably leans more towards Toluca right now because I've just been more engaged in following them than DCU this year, they're a more exciting team. It's hard to get excited about United when you just know they're going to lose. If DCU succeeds in a rebuilding project and competes consistently again, it would be a much harder decision.
