The biggest suprise to me is that Mexes was left out. I think he is better than Boumbsong and even Desailly. Anelka obvioulsy hasn't made up with the manager because Marlet is in the squad.

I guess the obvious names jump out at you:

I imagine Gallas will fill the other defensive slot

I'd certainly like to see Rothen and Giuly get some decent playing time

A shame that Govou & Djibril Cisse won't be there.

Desailly was injured in a friendly against Brazil today. He is now a doubt for Euro 2004. I imagine that Mexes will take his place in the squad, and Gallas will take his place in the starting lineup. This could be a blessing in disguise for France, because Desailly may have been their weak link. Now Viera or Zidane can become captain.
