I'm surprised there's not a thread on this somewhere. Maybe I just couldn't find it.

It's the first year I've played and I'm really enjoying it. It took me a while to get the hang of it but I'm hanging in there. In fact, I've gone a little crazy - I have six teams! in five different divisions! I'm definitely not going to buy any trades and have already used up too many. I'm in the top 10 in a number of my divisions but far off the pace.

It's fun anyway.

Last season was my first time and I did quite well. Trades are addicting. I must confess that I used my full allotment of trades, including the ones that I could buy. It paid off in the sense that by mid-season, I was in the top 10 overall, which meant I won a $50 gift certificate to MLSGear.com. I led my division for almost the whole year until I ran out of trades with about a month and a half to go. Then Taylor Twellman went down with injury and I was stuck, just treading water for the rest of the year. I lost my division lead and the Quakes jersey prize with about two weeks to go in the season. D'oh! I still ended up in the top 50 overall for the season and thus I won an official MLS Match game ball.

Expenses: $48 of trades
Prizes won: $50 gift certificate and a $100 MLS Game Ball

I came out ahead. ;)

This year, I have two teams. One, I will not buy any additional trades. The other team I will take last year's approach, except I will manage my trades a little better so I don't run out of them by year's end. So far my second team is kicking my first team's arse (by more than 700 points). I am not sure you can win any prizes without buying trades.

It's fun though. All MLS games are of interest to me now since one or more players in my fantasy team(s) are always involved. I find myself cheering for an individual player, even if I dislike that player's team.

Yeah I absolutely love Ruiz so far this season (had to dump him for this week though). What place are you in right now overall? (with both teams) How many trades do you have left with the team that you're being conservative with? I am not planning on buying any additional trades, and I have 15 left. I was on a one trade a week plan, but with Ruiz going down and Convey out, I burned 3 Saturday night.

Right now Im 1st in my division and 2928 overall. ( I started a week late :( , kinda took me out of the running for any prizes.) Id have to say Im doing pretty well considering my dad played last year and was in the top 150 overall, and this season he started at the beginning and I'm ahead of him with a week handicap.

Who do you have on your team? I have:

Hartman
Broome Borchars Gutierrez
Klein Gaven Albright Behncke
Donovan Taylor Moreno

Not bad.

One team is 109th overall (3035 points) with 3 free trades left. If the season were to end today, I would win an Official Puma Mini-ball (http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/mls/fantasy/about/prizes.html). ;)

The other team is 2,575th overall (2295 points) with 17 free trades left
The roster for that team:
Hartman
Nelsen Borchers Pope
Gaven Beasley Martino Alvarez
Donovan AlejandroMoreno Stewart

I just picked up Alejandro Moreno and Stewart since LA and DC play tomorrow.

I'd give you my roster for the first team but it is a roster in constant flux.
Enjoy the games.

Nice pick up on Moreno!!!

Maybe next year I'll buy trades. This year I'm just getting my feet wet.
