Villa was playing outstanding football until the last part of the Stoke game, and after that the wheels just fell off.
yeah, i was chuckling when o'neil kept his 1st string from traveling to moscow, they always were a little ********ed up after that. I think Stoke was actually battling pretty hard the whole game and were unlucky to go down by two. and it was at villa, iirc, what a great ********ing comeback. i doubt arsenal would have gotten fourth if not for that game.

I can only speak for myself, and say that this is not true... not even close...
my big problem with the premiership is the shit coaching
yet a couple of clubs have made £5 million bids for him (according to the Guardian article)... I think Everton need to pay up, or he will go elsewhere
shit coaching at clubs or junior level?

imo, outside of a few teams (Arsenal, United, City, The White Hart Lane Comedy Show) the premiership is not really a fun league to watch...
aston villa, west ham, fulham, everton (sometimes) as well as the yids, arsenal, united
chelsea can be a nice counter attacking side sometimes as can liverpool
people make out the prem league is shit lately, exactly how many teams would u pay to watch in la liga or serie a?
edit - forgot money city

Wednesday and there is still no real development since the weekend. I'm guessing Chamakh's future will be resolved very soon as Bordeaux begin their league campaign this Sunday. Hopefully he stays with them or goes to Sunderland.
Other than the Vieira rumor, it would seem Wenger is playing his cards close to his chest regarding a CB/DM (if he is looking for one). I think we may be in for a pleasant surprise before the month is over.

So far, we have made concrete bids for a striker and a CB, right? Is Vieira the only midfielder that we have been linked with lately?

We don't really have a concrete bid on a CB as far as I can tell. We have been linked to Subotic, Fazio, and Hangeland in the last few days - but all of it seems to be pure speculation. The only solid links are with Vieira and Chamakh. Chamakh will be sorted out in the next few days as I take it they don't want to start their season with this issue still up in the air. Vieira may be falling through since Domenech dropped him and told to him to play as much as possible, and I'm guessing the condition on him coming here was that he was not going to play as much as possible.
Gallas and Silvestre will both see their contracts run out next summer, leaving us with only Vermaelen and Djourou. I'd be very surprised if we wait until next year to buy 2 new CBs, rather than buy 1 now who is a potential starter next year, and buying a new 4th choice next summer.

I'm pretty sure wayne was referring to Vermaelen. That was a real bid, right? ;)

Hopefully that doesnt mean he comes to Arsenal. I just dont see what this guy would offer compare to what we already have.
“It [Chamakh's future] will be settled in the next few days," he told L'Equipe.

here is soemthing else to think about. Maybe Wenger is going for KJH, but doesn't want to spend more than he wants to as Madrid is trying to offload players. Think about it for a second. While Real have shown great determination in their buying strategy,
their selling strategy would not be quite as textbook. They buy, then
they ask everyone to please please take these heavily waged unwanted
rejects when everyone knows they're up against the August deadline.
There'll no doubt be a slew of departures out of there in the last hours
of the window. For next to nothing. Similarly, we are playing a waiting
game with Bordeaux by the sounds of it.

Yeah......I have given up on trying to predict Wenger a long time ago. He's like the stock market, you never no whats going to happen next.

I have a feeling the Chamakh deal won't be resolved for a few more weeks
Sunderland are more than likely not in anymore due to the Bent deal and Bordeaux will realize that Wenger is right and will drop the price

If Le Boss wants to bring in Chamakh that's fine but I really don't understand that move much. He just doesn't seem like the type of player we need.

It is really not in Bordeaux's interest to draw this out. They will have to start their season with their lead striker probably not wanting to play, and whatever money they do get will be received too late for them to spend it.

My thinking is that Chamakh is faster than our current center forwards and all the reports I have read is that he is a brilliant team player... As well as brilliant in the air...
I do not understand it either but maybe that is Wenger's thinking
I also do not include Vela, Arshavin, or Theo as center forwards in this 433

Yeah by RVP and Bendtner certainly fit that bill.
If he is indeed that fast then perhaps that is the key because we really don't have any track stars on the team except guys on the smaller size like Walcott and Vela who can't play off a CB's shoulder.

I am just throwing it out there, I believe in bendtner so I do not support a striker move but maybe that is his thinking
maybe he doesn't trust bendtner yet and van persie is not really that good leading the line... Eduardo may have injury issues still, who knows... Chamakh
may just be insurance
of course how we are playing this preseason, everything is about interchanging positions in the front 3

How about that CM that everyone knows we need? Any links with us?

I really don't see us going for a CM.
A CB is a possibility but I really don't see us bringing in another CM.
