Willkommen, welcome, bienvenue!
The new season is about to start, so it's time to kick off a new thread for everybody's favorite team as well. And what better way to celebrate this than with the signing of our local hero Aliaksandr Hleb?

Stayed away from posting anything the last 48 hours - what can I say?
A dream has come true today.
It's great to have you back Alex.

I'm happy you guys got him, you hardly spent anything as you got a player based on wages practically. Now a striker and a defender wouldn't hurt! Get TO IT NOW! :D
Congrats though! :)

Wow, the lost son is back! ;) Congrats.
I remember well his first BL game in Nuremberg (4:2 for Stuttgart), when I told my bro that this guy from the right wing would become a top player one day.

The firsttime I knew that he would have a bright future was when VfB II kicked Eintracht Frankfurt out of the DFB Pokal with a whooping 5-1. Felix Magath was Frankfut's coach at that point and immediately lost his job after that...

Did you guys get a buy option for Hleb or is this a strict one-season loan??

So far, I haven't seen any mentioning regarding a buy option. This would indicate that there is none, although it doesn't have to mean that.

I've just looked around a bit regarding a buy option for Hleb. Apparently, Inter would have gotten a buy option of €10m. So it would make sense that Stuttgart got the same deal.

That would be one assumption. Another would be since it wasn't mentioned, it doesn't exist.
The chances of both being correct are equal.
Meaning?
I'd say the answer is we just don't know.

Spox reporting that we have agreed terms with and are on the verge of signing Pavel Pogrebnyak.

Also, in an important turn of events, we have reportedly re-entered talks with Standard Liege about getting Jovanovic after all. With Hleb already here, getting Jovanovic as well would really be immense.
But first things first, we may well have our new striker tonight. Pogrebnyak could be confirmed very soon. StN reported this morning that Love is still hoping for his move to happen - I would to be honest prefer him to Pogrebnyak. We will see how the day pans out.

Time to think by the way - how will we play today??
Hleb definitely won't be there, neither will any player we may or may not buy before the match tomorrow. So here's the side i'd line up with:
--------------Lehmann
Traesch---Tasci-----Delpierre-----Celozzi
-----------Lanig-----Hitzlsperger
Gebhart---------------------------Rudy
-----------Marica-----Cacau
At rightback, Traesch has certainly outperformed Osorio over the summer and Osorio even had a minor injury the last days. So, no-brainer really that Traesch should play ahead of Osorio. In central defence, Tasci will be partnered by Delpierre - Boulah had probably edged slightly ahead of Delpierre in the pecking order over the summer but he was unlucky to get that injury. Leftback is up for debate - i'd go for Celozzi over Magnin personally, though there doesn't seem to be much between them.
In midfield, Khedira has entered training later than everyone else and Lanig has been convincing over the summer friendlies, so I would start Lanig over Khedira unless Sami is 100% fit, otherwise i'd rather he focuses on the Wolfsburg match. I'd say start Lanig and give Khedira like 30 minutes in the second half. On the wings i'd go with Gebhart and Rudy - Elson could also be a possibility but i'd rather go with the two big talents, at least to start.
And in attack i'd still play both Cacau and Marica ahead of Schieber for now. But i'd expect Schieber to get playing time in the second half.

Well, needless to day, I'm fine with Pogrebnyak, but only if we get him to sign a new deal. I'm sure they won't pay that sort of money for him if he doesn't sign something that gives us his rights for several years.
Jovanovic would be good, but how are the young guys going to get enough time if we have him and Hleb?
