Sigh, one of the most creative wingbacks I've ever seen. I hope he gets into coaching someday. :(

Great player. We could use another one like him for the Seleccion right now.

Finally.
He did really, really bad at his cruzeiro comeback.
I bet if Cruzeiro had won on the libertadores finals he would stay on the squad till' the end of the year...too bad it didn't happened... :o

He was respected by fans in Belo Horizonte and became a fan favorite of Cruzeiro. I'm not a Cruzeiro fan, but I remember his play for that team earlier this decade, and he was always solid.
I just saw his interview, in good Portuguese I might add, and the guy is very humble.

A good player and a great character. I guess I'll always remember him as one of the guys who made good on his dedication and commitment to the national team.

Kinda makes you wonder with all his talent and ability , why the hell wern't Riber da Prata interested in getting this guy ! could you imagine Juampi helping out Gallardo, and Ortega in the attack? three emblematic river players coming back together for one last hoo-ra!
Its awful he feels he's gotta retire, but its worse that river didnt even consider signing him for at least 1 season.... pitiful
What's worse is that i'll never have the pleasure of having seen Boca spank river w/ these three together.:(

Anybody find out what the beef was between him and veron? They almost went to blows.

Easily the best lateral (especially on the left) we had for the NT. Grande Juampi.

I don't remember much about it. But Veron, being the arrogant prick that he is, blamed Sorin for his exclusion from the NT.

Well the story is that when both were players in Italy , they shared a condo and Sorin was not making some payments, so Veron had to front some, then apparently it was only in Sorin's name and both had a feud and Sorin kicked him out, lol.

He was an awesome player. He was an example of argentine blood, sweat and tears. He brought a pulse to any football team.

He is very very underestimated. I would choose over roberto Carlos any day. He had something called raca..what many players lack today.
