DirecTV is offering a package for $170... u will get pre-game shows and post-game shows, every single match including the final... Fox Sports World will broadcast a couple of games on Tape Delay.

TSN is showing MOST of the matches. FSW Canada are showing the few that TSN are not.

But, yeah, you could get them on PPV in the US.

The economics of international soccer broadcasting in the US dictate that European Championship will NOT be available live in the US on anything other than pay-per-view, probably for the next 100 years or more.

ESPN, Univision, etc. all lost money when they had US TV rights to the Europeans championship. The viewership just wasn't there in sufficient numbers to attract advertisers.

TSN is a Canadian channel. It's only available on Canadian cable and Canadian satellite dishes...

FSW has 72-hour delayed rights. Otherwise, you decide if you want to pay for live PPV coverage.

Delay suits me fine. I WILL NOT PAY FOR EUROPEAN SOCCER. Not with MLS, FSW and qualifying around. Call me naive or whatever you wish, but I don't care. Why should I? Why should you? Except for maybe one or two games each tourney, the Euro Championships have been some of the biggest borefests I can remember in football. Of course the Euros are sure to let me know that I'm not cultured enough to understand (even though I was born and lived there half of my life). I can wait for club matches on TV come fall as far as Europe is concerned. Go pay for the right to be educated...I mean bored.

That's too bad. We hear about this huge population of Americans who supposedly are too refined to follow the supposedly inferior MLS. You'd think they'd flock to watch the European Championships, the most prestigious tournament outside the WC.

All that comment tells us is that you were obviously too cheap to pay for Euro 2000 as well. Hopefully your financial situation will improve before 2008.

Fine. You're naive. ... You DO realize that this is the WORLD wide web that we are communicating in and not some diner in Arkansas, right?

You hear it right. The hugh American population would flock to watch MLB instead of MLS. MLB is a much superior product than MLS. MLB is also a product that Americans subjectively prefer over the European Championship. Guess why.

Hmm...

"sophisticated" (COUGHcynicalCOUGH) big game European soccer where there's mass outrage if a match produces more than 4 combined shots on goal

or

an interminable Major League Baseball game where they take 3 minutes between each pitch.

Almost enough to make me long for Jim Rome.

Almost.

I think he was referring to a suposedly huge population of soccer fans that are too refined to watch MLS. But that is just a guess.

Exactly.

I thought it was implied because it's a soccer board, but too subtle for some.

Well, not all European countries play like Italia.

Euro 2000 was the greatest soccer tournament I have ever seen. Anybody who calls that boring is obviously not that big a fan.

Great news. Look's like I'll be coughing up $25 a game to watch Croatia in the local pubs. :(

Man Baseball is part of american culture, even little league baseball is so popular here. Its kinda like a weekly trip to your local football stadium elsewhere in the world, its deeply embedded into american culture thats why they love it so much.

Agreed, Spartak. I don't know how much of Euro 2000 TAKK saw, but calling European Championship "borefests" is nonsense. Remember France vs. Portugal in the semis or France vs. Italy in the final, just to name two games.

If those qualify as borefests, I can't wait to be bored again starting June 12.
