The logistics would be difficult to work out, but if so, it would be fantastic.

That is an awesome idea!

Random brainstorm:

Eastern Market and Potomac Avenue are both viable destinations and both easily accessible on the blue/orange lines. However, if we meet at Stadium-Armory, we would only have to deal with crossing traffic at a spot where there are often police helping us cross.

Hypothetical Situation: Match starts at 8, Tailgate starts at 5, march to the Tailgate at 4:30-4:45.

Train Examples:
Blue Line: Capital South to Stadium-Armory: 5 minutes
Pregame at The Pour House and get to the Capital South station NLT 4:20 and get to the Stadium-Armory in time to join the crowd.

Green/Yellow Line: U St to Stadium-Armory: 24 minutes
Pregame at Momo's and get to the U Street metro NLT 4, you're there in time to join the crowd.

Orange Line: Clarendon to Stadium-Armory: 26 minutes
Pregame at Kitty's in Clarendon, get to the Clarendon metro NLT 4, you're there in time to join the crowd.

This is, of course, on a perfect day with no delays. Ha!

This idea about meeting at the armory is awesome by the way. I bet you it will work out.

I would imagine that once the match time is announced, the tailgate time will be announced. Once that transpires, we can start planning the logistics of the march from the Stadium/Armory Metro Station to the Tailgate in Lot 8.

My Outlined Concept:

Pre Game at your local/closest/desired Pub
At a designated time, walk to the Metro and ride to the Stadium/Armory Metro Station
Meet up with American Outlaws outside of Stadium/Armory Metro Station
March from the Station to the Tailgate while Singing
Best Damned Tailgate you've ever seen
March from the Tailgate to the Stadium while Singing
Match
Metro back to your Pre Game Pub for Post Game celebrations

Times to come later, let's start coordinating Bar -> Metro combinations now.

Arlington - Orange Line
Kitty O'Shea's, Ireland's Four Courts, Summers -> Courthouse (23 Minutes)
Union Jack's -> Ballston (29 Minutes)

D.C. Blue Line
The Pour House -> Capital South (5 Minutes)
Molly Malone's -> Eastern Market (3 Minutes)

D.C. Green/Yellow Line
Momo's -> U Street-Cardozo Metro Station (24 Minutes)

MISSING!
D.C. Red Line
Bar -> Metro Line

A Red Line bar I can recommend is Nanny O'Brien's (Cleveland Park). Another possibility is Irish 4 Field's (also Cleveland Park). In Bethesda, where I live, Tommy Joe's, Caddie's On Cordell or perhaps even Black Finn could be possibilities. But, even as a Bethesda/Chevy Chase resident, I understand if you don't want something out there, and having something in Cleveland Park will best capture the NW DC and MD crowds.

What might work is something at Metro Center (more likely to catch people ducking out of work early than further out in suburbia and then easy on blue/orange trains to stadium). There's a sports bar in the Hyatt (http://www.yelp.com/biz/grand-slam-sport-bar-washington) which is decent but not cheap drinks. There's also Laughing Man Tavern which gets meh reviews on Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/laughing-man-tavern-washington) but WPost (http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/bars-clubs/the-laughing-man-tavern,791886.html) thought it was OK. I'd be willing to go on a scouting mission to this one, it's really around the corner from my job. Of course the ESPNzone mess is here too (I'd rather slam my hand in a car door, thanks).

That's true...and I'd rather beat my own face in with a tire iron before recommending the fail that is ESPNZone.

I am in, but no march is complete without 2 pole banners, so hopefully we can have a couple of those. I plan on making 2

I love this concept except step 1 should say- Pre Game at the place where everybody can meet together. Whats the point of having everybody at different places? Help me understand how this would promote AO unity? I can understand for our viewing parties...but this is game day. We are expected to throw an official bash for all of the visitors. After the game.....whatever. But night before and game day need to be at ONE spot.

I agree, we should choose just 1 bar and have hundreds, instead of 5 bars and have a small turnout for all of them. I know Dc police does not like large crowds, but nothing says fans can't go to a bar before a game and march to the metro together.

Agree with this, too. One spot. Unfortunately, though, that throws out the likes of Kitty's and probably Momo's b/c just not enough space at either of those places if we get the crowds we expect. Molly Malone's, and centrally located bars like RFD and Fado (could be considered small) need to be the frontrunners, IMO. Molly's probably the top choice b/c it's big, already supports soccer fans, and is closest to the stadium.

I just called Molly Malone's to ask about next Wednesday. I totally lucked out because the guy who answered was the Soccer Expert and while I got information about next week, we also spoke about meeting up there before the match in October. More information @ the meeting to come as I get it.

Also, Molly Malone's plans on opening early next year to show World Cup matches live.
