I do not know a lot about D1 football as it is hard to see it in America, but I have been reading and watching highlights and I have taken a liking to Nottingham Forest. What is it that this team needs to do to get to the top of D1? If memory serves me correctly, big things were expected out of this team this year, but it did not happen. What were the causes of the poor season for Forest?

many things happend last season that you could say contributed to our bad season. Paul Hart let many of our best player leave, what he brought in as replacement's never performed, then he refused to change his tactic's from playing the diamond formation, other teams just swamped the midfield & shut us down, the main reason you could argue was David Johnson breaking his leg, he missed most of the season, even when he came back at 80% he was scoring every week. His goals were missed, we went from Dec 6th to mid Feb without scoring a goal yet still finish with a positive goal differance. Next season we will be back in the mix, if your a betting man put your money on Forest going up, Big Fat Joe as turned things around & Forest are looking good.

Well- Last year is last year. We survived, improved the team, and have started moving in a positive direction. JK is definitely the man for the job, I think if they can hang on to a few of their core players JK can move them into contention to make it back to the EPL.
I would really like to see Riordan (young strker from Hiberian) move south to City Ground. If not I am sure JK will mold this group into a competitive bunch.
Now comes the time of year I loath, the wait for a new season, at least there is the Euro 2004 to watch, but after the fourth, comes what my family has come to know as the mad month, where all things are possible and everybody is transferrable. I hope you continue to back Forest, they are coming to the states this summer.

Forest is coming to the US? Where?

RFK vs DC United on Wed, July 14th - just a friendly - probably not televised outside the DC market area

Forest need the Chairman to support the manager properly. He failed to back Hart by allowing our best players leave before the start of last season.

Now Kinnear is in the job and Doughty better do his job and open the purse strings....

FAO all American readers.

Ignore this man. He knows absolutely nothing about Forest nor their finances. Nigel Doughty (the Forest chairman) pumped in 6.5 million pounds last season alone. That doesnt sound like the spending of a tight-wallet does it? The season before he pumped in 6 million and the season before that 5.

Im amazed that despite all the facts proving otherwise, you still carry on with this ridiculous argument.

Doughty is the best thing to happen to Forest for a long time. Without his cash Forest would have been in Administration or even been made bankrupt...

Are you for real? If he had supported Hart last Summer and splashed the cash in order to keep the Play off achieving squad together and take the next step towards the Premiership we be in clover now.

However he witheld financial backing and we lost Riccy, Brennan etc and got the likes of Gunnarson and Sonner in return.

It was a huge stroke of luck that the Great man Joe Kinnear was available to us or we'd be Div 2 bound as we speak...

I know your argument, 'Doughty withdrew funds', the facts say otherwise. Connolly said in an interview that Forest offered him a great deal, but West Ham offered him more. Brennan left because Hart didnt want to pay his agent 50,000 for sorting out a contract. Scimeca left for the offer of Premiership football. Doughty allowed Hart to offer them reasonable contracts that wouldnt have bankrupted us. it was PAUL HART who decided to sign Gunnarsson and Sonner when there were better options available to him. Honestly Silvio, your argument has so many holes and lies in it, its becoming embarassing.

Last season, Doughty pumped in 6.5 million pounds. In one season, when he didnt have to. He gave us the funds to get players such as McFail, Stewart and Barmby. He single-handedly funded the Taylor transfer, and half the King transfer.

Joe Kinnear was a god-send, partially because he took over from that incompetent gimp Hart. Tell me Silvio, who was it who chose to appoint JK? Also, tell me how it was Doughty's fault that Hart played the same rigid diamond formation every week with exactly the same players when it so obviously wasnt working without doing anything at all about it? Hart was useless and is proving that at Barnsley. Doughty is our saviour.

Riccy went to play in the premiership... Can't blame him for that...

Are you arguing that the loss of Riccy and Brennan was the main reason why we did so badly until BFJ saved us....?? Surely the lovely diamond formation favoured by Hart had something to do with it??

You can't be serious in saying that it had more to do with Doughty last season than Harts tactics??

To call Hart a gimp is a travesty of the truth and the disgraceful way in which he was treated. Not many were calling him such before out 2 leg semi against the Blunts. Not even you Newham....

Riccy was offered a paultry one third the money of his previous contract. To insult our backbone was an abomination and he was dead right to leave. Not forgetting the likes of Goater, Webber, Hucks etc, all of whom took one lookat the money being offered and went on to pastures greener.

Kinnear saved Tight wallets bacon and I have no doubt he will make decent funds available to BFJ or he'll just walk out....

So all in all... Doughty has stabilised the finances of the club and is in the process of getting the refinancing of the trent end bond sorted and is backing BFJ in the transfer market.

What is it again you have aginst Doughty??

Excellent Silvio, you keep stating these pathetic accusations and ill keep proving you wrong.

I wasnt calling for his head then, and simply because i had no reason to. The following season showed Hart off to be the one season wonder he is.

Its very easy to say that they were offered 1/3 of their contracts, but the simple fact is that only Paul Hart, Nigel Doughty and Riccy Scimeca will know what he was offered. You Silvio, know ******** all about the situation. Speculation can get you into all kinds of trouble.

For one moment, lets assume what you were saying is true. Riccy was signed by David 'money is no object' Platt, and was put on a lengthy contract with apparently 15k+ a week. David Platt's spending nearly bankrupted Forest and we needed to cut back on our wages. Riccy was a good player, but there is no way on heaven or earth that we could afford to offer him anyway near what he was currently on. Even if we had, do you think he'd have chosen division one over the Premiership?

Goater and Webber, two players that Hart wanted in but Doughty knew better. Doughty assessed the two players and allowed Hart what he thought they deserved. Webber scored 5 goals for Watford last season and Goater got 4 for Reading. Look who was right? As for Huckerby, Doughty and Hart both confirmed that it was Hart who opted against signing him. Doughty was more than willing to give him the funds to sign him, but Hart pulled out. Hucks has subsequently got Norwich promoted single-handedly. I know for a fact that we paid 10k per week for Huckerby when he was on loan, something that Doughty agreed to and also made available the funds for a permanent transfer in the summer. Why would he then suddenly pull out in the summer?

Kinnear saved tight-wallets bacon? Bollocks, he opted to appoint him ahead of managers such as Hoddle and Graham. You really do know nothing do you?

So, on top of me proving you wrong on every count there, answer me how you can call someone who has invested 15 million pounds with no return in 3 years a 'tightwallet'.... Im waiting...

Very simply for the thousandth time he failed to financially back Hart up last summer whehn instead of providing the necessary funds to maintain and indeed add to our play off achieving squad he showed the likes of Riccy and Brennan the door and got Gunnarson and Sonner on the cheap= Tight wallet

hahaha, chose to ignore the rest of the post then Silvio? Chose to stop digging did we?

You say what you say with not a single shred of proof. Its laughable, i have broken down your argument and proved it wrong on every single point yet you still carry on. Personally, i think you are one of three things:

1) Paul Hart's son
2) An imbecile
3) A troll

However much it may seem that you are number 2, i feel that you are number 3. You come on fighting this ridiculous argument despite being so painfully wrong in the vain hope that someone will take offence and get pissed off because of it. Its pathetic Silvio.

Utter nonsense son. Thats my take on the situation and if no one likes it thats fine with me. It won't change my opinion.

You however are still young and a tad naive. Not your fault just how it is. Maturity will come with age and I look forward to seeing it develop.

Ta Ta for now....:)
