View Full Version : Whither Martin O'Neill? Your Summer Speculation Thread

The EPL season is all but over and heads are already rolling. Much scrutiny on Ranieri, Fergie and Houllier among others. With Larsson moving on, an aging midfield, and a board so tight you couldn't cram a sesame seed up their arses with a sledgehammer, will M O'N finally take the money and run? Or will he stay and rebuild?
Discuss.
P.S. I suppose we should throw speculation as to the fate of puir Alex McLiesh in here as well, though his prospects are not as *ahem* elevated as those of Mr. O'Neill.
Who else is in Scottish football is on the chopping block?

Well I hope that the guy whos brizilian who got his contract cut by Boussria Dourtmond (name) doesnt get a contract. I dont want a guy who could walk out on us at any time.
How bout Rdazanzki (sp, i know it's wrong) the Canadian from Everton? I hope we can get him, he would be pretty good.

I dunno. He's okay. Got a great work rate but not a tremendous scorer. 11 goals last year, 8 this. His tranfer fee from Anderlecht was UK4.5M so, unless Everton is willing to take a loss, I don't see him being for us.

I would think that Alex Mcleish has until Christmas. If things are not going well then he will be sacked.

Going by all the transfer speculation around Celtic, particularly on Rivaldo and Ole Gunnar from United, I think O'Neill is definitely planning on staying at least one more year to have another crack at the Champions League. Judging by how keen on him the two Irish horse racing blokes at United are, I think he'll stay at Celtic until Ferguson eventually moves on, then move across into that hotseat.

I hadn't heard the Solskjaer rumor. That would be something! And worth the price too. He's the real deal. Injury problems and not so good form this year. But he's world class and doens't have a superstar mentality from what I can discern. I think he would be a good fit.
Edit: Then again I knew it would be too good to be true. (http://www.soccer24-7.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33435)

Remember he is 31. I can't see Celtic spending £3m on someone that age.

Rumour has it Robbie Fowler will be a Rangers player within the next 7 days.

Cman, we get enough of this crap over here already without you starting another thread about it, the way I see it is, we have already qualified for next seasons champions league, we have players like amoroso sniffing round, and I doubt another season of transfer inactivity will be tolerated, he has the total backing of the fans and in the 4 years he has been here, despite being linked with every premiership club to lose a boss he is still here, unless liverpool or man united suddenly cut their respective managers loose I dont see him being anywhere else next season.

Rangers have just had Robbie Fowler in with his agent. Looks like a 3 month rolling contract for next season. So the rumour goes!
