Huh? Why hate on Lil Wayne? He's funny and he has a better pop sensibility than most hip-hop artists.

I always love rap elitists. It works something like this: [Insert popular rapper] sucks! His lyrics suck! Check out [insert obscure rapper here]!

Usually their idea of a quality rapper means that he's "smart" (whoa guys...Aristotle! Ptolemy! WHOA!!!!) - i.e., that it's OK for them to like him.

I think this (http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/2008/11/18/116-black-music-that-black-people-dont-listen-to-anymore/) was written for you.

I like Lil Wayne, but why does everyone need to have a robot voice nowadays? Do he and T-Pain have a mechanical larynx that isn't visible?

Apples and Oranges.

I really like Immortal Technique but he's in a different realm than lil wayne. There is one song that I really like but I can't recall what it's called. It's about this girl that he falls in love with and she doesn't reciprocate for some reason and years later he finds out it was because she had aids. The storytelling in that song is simply amazing and not something you would ever find in a Lil Wayne song.

That being said, I'm not gonna go out and dance to IT. If I want to go to a club and get drunk and be stupid, lil wayne and the like are the way to go.

I like Wayne but he's definitely hit or miss. At his best he offers crazy wordplay, funny verses, and insane non sequiturs.

Examples:

"It's my go
And I'ma go so opposite of soft
Off the Richter,
Héctor Camacho, man, Randy Savage
Far from average, above status quo, flow, so, pro"

"Let's go, **********s don't see me cause I'm better than both
The only time I will depend is when I'm seventy years old
That's when I can't hold my shit within so I shit on myself
Cause I'm so sick and tired of shitting on everybody else."

And pretty much all of "A Milli". The New Yorker even wrote a small article (http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/sashafrerejones/2008/08/a-zilli.html) on the song.

When he's at his worst we see all that crap he's trying to do now by making a rock record.

Sure go ahead. Try to make a top 10 Billboard hit out of a song with a minimalist beat, made up entirely of non sequiturs, with no chorus. Good luck with that.
