Hey All,

Don't have time to throw up a real fancy thread but I wanted to get one started for this weekend match. Rematch with Orlando Pirates, maybe we'll see some more first teamers? It's being streamed live again on the MCFC website, so check it out!

I'm thinking 7am US west coast time.

I am fairly sure it is playing at 9 am for those that live on the east coast of the US.

A couple of comments from 25 minutes in:

Something needs to be done about the taclking. Petrov went down on what should have been a yellow card tackle, then Ade took a hard challenge, and Vidal was carted off with looked like a bad ankle injury after their Keeper slid into him and half-scissored to grab the ball on a run forward. At this rate we'll have three players injured by the end of the match.

Our squad looks like they don't know each other. So many half-passes, back-passing, incompresehensible forward runs, indesicion galore, and very little chemistry to be found anywhere. They really have been a shambles and look almost a Championship side playing Real right now: back-pass, back-pass, launch forward and hope for something.

At the exact moment the commentator refered to Hughes' announcement that Dunne will be our captain next season I cringed twice. Once at being reminded of those horrible words Sparky uttered, and a second time for the almost immediate example of why it is such a bad idea as Dunne received a backpass only to casually pass it right to a Kaiser Cheif and then let him run past him for another shot on goal.

No Robbie. The official site had a write up about Ade and Robbie playing today but he was left off the starting squad and nothing has been mentioned as to why or if he will appear later in the match. We shall see.

Overall a very unimpressive showing so far. Obviously it is preseason, we don't have the full strength side out, and we need time to really gel... but this is not an especially good sign so far.

Dunne off for Pablo.

Not exactly like for like... and I am very happy. It makes me sad, because I very much like Dunne but he just does not have the quality we need.

Kaizer Chiefs 1 - 0 City

Horrible, horrible, and I cannot emphasise more horrible defending on our part. There is definitely an argument to be made for handball by the KC scorer, but he should never have received the ball off the corner in any case.

Summary of the first half:

Discontinuity, occasionally get forward, make no space, back-pass, repeat.

Poor performance, Barry looked good though. It is pre-season remember but still a little disappointing, would love to see us lift some sort of trophy.

Missed just about most of the match except for 3-4 minutes before the first half ended. In that small window of time I saw pretty much all the negatives MC mentioned...

I watched every second and I can say that most, if not all, that could be negatively assessed to Ade in this one can be attributed to the fact that he had nearly no service in the box. He looked uncomfortable because he was not accustomed to having to track back twenty yards, strip the ball from the opposing side himself, and run back another twenty yards, through four or five defenders in order to have a chance at goal. On other forums I frequent some supporters are bemoaning Vlad's penchant for dribbling through every defender rather than passing. And as a holding midfielder I understand where their criticism comes from. But our passing and overall team performance up until then had been so bad I don't know if I can fault him for trying to do something, anything, on his own, as Ade was being forced to do. Really the only thing directly around Ade's neck is his miss in front of the fairly open net. Otherwise he was fairly good, given the utter bullocks that was the rest of our performance.

NEW signing Emmanuel Adebayor made a miserable debut for moneybags Manchester City as they slumped to defeat against Kaizer Chiefs in Pretoria. "

Are you really attempting to make a point by referencing an article in the Sun? You know that is a rag, yeah? I could produce articles from other rags stating he was fairly good, which wouldn't make it so, either. I actually watched the match and formed my own opinion, did you? Because you don't seem to be making much in the way of reasoned arguments about anything, so I am going to treat you as the troll you are.

Moving on.
