If you were a betting man, who would your money be on?
Any surprise picks?
I can't think beyond the obvious names:
An injury free Torres is bound to be up there, but if precedents are anything to go by he ll also spend part of the seaon on the treatment table.
Rooney could be a good bet, and his odds are tempting.
But I'll go for Drogba on the proviso that Lotti continues to play 2 strikers as he has so far in pre season - in such a formation, Drogba will smash them in for fun.

Owen is a good shout providing he see's enough playing time. I fear that he might not but if he does he's as good as most at finding the net.
Torres must be the favourite. Even last season, when injured, his goals to games ratio was unbelieveable. There isn't a striker in the country who has his instinct for goal coupled with his physcial attributes.
Drogba is a good shout, as is Rooney, providing he plays centally. I fear that with Owen and Berbatov very much central players, Rooney may be asked on frequent occassion to play a wider, more varied role.
Adebayor perhaps?
It all depends on what business is done between now and the start of the season/closing of the transfer window.
Arsenal may buy Chamahk yet. United may buy another striker een though we've been told all business has been completed. Chelsea's tranfer activity is almost certainly not over yet. They may buy someone yet.......

Torres if he can stay fit. Even with all that he was hurt last year, he produced.

Adebayor perhaps?
Yeah I should have mentioned him. Him, Robinho and Tevez are a great forward trident.

Just stuck a tenner each way on Adebayor @ 20/1. Pays 4 places at 1/4 the odds. 60 quid return and effectively 2/1 on my total outlay if he finishes 2nd, 3rd or 4th, £270 if he tops the scoring charts. Making sure I've had a bet this season after thinking Anelka looked like a good bet at the start of last season at decent odds and not acting on it.
Forgetting each way possibilities and all that, I'd have gone with Torres if I was forced to name a player who would finish top.

Adebayor is prolific but I don't yet know how Man City will gel or who will emerge as the most regular strikers at Eastlands. Will Adebayor play less than RSC?
Yakubu should feature more than last year and his stats are very impressive.
Drogba is second favourite at the bookies but with ACN I think Anelka looks to be worth a shot despite being only a 1 in 3 player.
Rooney will get more than last year but I doubt he will get more goals than Torres or Drogba except if these two get injured.
I am a Liverpool fan so could be accused of being biased but I think Torres and Gerrard will score tons of goals this coming season. The stats have shown they are very prolific as a partnership and if they play more than last season they should score even more. They have scored 55 goals and then 41 goals (due to injury disruption) between them in the last 2 seasons. I suspect Gerrard will play like a man possessed this coming season as he will be determined to make up for letting himself and his club down by his recent off-field problems. Torres is not injured at all currently and should improve on last years tally. These two have an established partnership and both are automatic starters. If LFC continue scoring goals at the same rate as they did at the end of last season then these two will rack them up very rapidly.
Torres has by far the best starts/goals ratio in the Prem now that C Ronaldo has left. There is no reason to suggest that he will drop from such a rate. The only player who comes close to this starts/goals ratio is Adebayor who is now at Man City. No-one can really say how Adebayor will do with his new team-mates or how many games he will start there. I would be surprised if he proved as prolific as at Arsenal for this season. To date Torres has played only about 10 mins of pre-season matches (due to extra time off to recover from the Confeds Cup) so has not yet impressed or scored. Once he does then his price will decrease (as it has with Owen) - any punters on Torres would be wise to bet soon imo.
RVP could be worth a shot as he takes FKs and pens at Arsenal.
Is Agbonlahor injured currently? Because he has the same odds as Macheda which sounds crazy. If he is actually fit and expected to play at the start of the season - Agbonlahor has to be the best pick as he is out on 67!

Provided he avoids injuries, Owen will get goals. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up with the highest goal per minute ratio. But I can't seem him getting into their strongest first 11. We' ll see.

Yeah the fact Drogba will be off to the AN slipped my mind - still expect a strong season from him.
Agree regarding Gerrard and Torres - i'm expecting great things from them.
Re Agbonlahor - I really think Villa are going to struggle this year although if fit he ll probably still grab around 10. To be honest I'm slightly tempted by their odds of 100/1 to go down, although they still have players like Carew who should be good enough to keep them afloat.

Owens chances depend on Berbatov's form. If Berbatov hit's the ground running this year then MO will find himself on the bench not just for most games, but he'll only get small stretches of playing time when he does get on as well.

I think the settled players will top the charts; by this I mean the Gerrard/Torres, Berbatov/Rooney and Anelka/Lampard/Drogba combos. Van Persie is a long shot-- if he can stay injury-free he'll likely gatecrash.
As for Adebayor, it depends a hell of whole lot on what Mark Hughes is going to do and it may still be a while before he settles in. He's a prolific scorer, though and I may follow Republic of Mancunia and put a tenner on him to be there or thereabouts.

All things being equal I can't look past Torres for the Premiership golden boot.
BTW. Adebayor will also miss matches due to ANC.

'pool just lost alonso and i think that takes torres out of the equation a bit. drogba would be a favorite just because he knows his role and his teammates, unlike adebayor or owen. rooney and/or berba would be a decent bet too. i'm saying superdrogs, though.

I would pick drogba ordinarily ,and his talent is unmatched in this league ,but he will share the goals next season with anelka in order to make the team more dangerous.
So in theory i think Torres has the best shout to be top scorer as he's basically Liverpool one and only man up front,so they will be feeding him until he gets injured.
The race for second in the gaols coring ranks will be more exciting as it could be a number of players. DRogba,Anelka,Rooney,Arshavin,Adebayor,Defoe it's going to be quite a war and would have to go with the best player in the league next year Didier Drogba.

i like arshavin as a dark horse. arsenal have plenty of creativity and he's their best finisher...or eduardo if he's back on the horse.

He'll still take his chances though?
Torres' scoring feats are more directly helped by his understanding with Gerrard. However, they'll miss Alonso's ball retention unless they can replace him adequately.
