Yeah, bittersweet.
How about we send them packing 7-0, for good measure.

Alan Smith to Old Trafford? Why not the Bridge?
I would trade Leeds even up, JFH for Alan Smith without blinking an eye. I might throw in 5,000,000 Pounds of RA's money too. With Smith you get all the competitive fire of JFH on 9 year younger legs. I don't think Jimmy would relish a return to Elland Road but who knows.
On Smith's fiery temperment: he hasn't picked up a red card this season, yet.

Also, Smith is an England international. So, it's not like Chelsea would be lowering their standards.
But we don't like Alan Smith

And we can do better than Alan Smith. Remember, Chris Powell is an England international too ;)

Alan Smith - Still a boy, spits his dummy out too much for my liking.
Well it has got to be at least 5. Bolton got 4, Arsenal got 5. 7 would be nice!! I would settle for 6 lol.
Shame the season is at an end. Gonna miss going to the Bridge for a few months. Hopefully next season I will be going back as a season ticket holder.
See Gallas spat his dummy out last Friday and went running home to Mummy.
The team that played against Monaco and Man Utd have been given 5 days off, Desailly is in Portugal for some award ceremony so can't wait to see what type of team Mr R is going to put out for his last game????? :)

I forsee Gronks in central defense, Johnson in goal, Cudicini wide left and Gallas up front. Then Huth will be brought on as a right winger late in the game, but only after Claudio subs himself in for Frank Lampard.

i'd say two or three, sevens a bit greedy like ;)
it depends also on what team we'll put out verses the leeds mentality,i.e....will they play for the fans and a bit of self pride or will they just lie down and feel sorry for themselves???

I absolutely agree. I hate Alan Smith. But if he can contemplate a move to Old Trafford, why not Chelsea?
Would you be more worried about Alan Smith or Ronaldo "phoning it in" for a cold rainy away game at Bolton? Or a cup tie at Scarborough?

The problem is that Ronaldo "phoning it in" is probably better than a full out performance by Smith.
At any rate, lets just use this game as a scouting exercise :)

I'd rather see ASs get all worked up about nothing and see red :D

You do know it has been 18 matches since Smith's last booking.....
I'd love to see him get a goal, he's yet to score at the Bridge.

I've always liked Smiffy... and he has been a lot better lately as CS says. Having said that I'd have Rooney as well, English and all that - maybe it's just me.
Well, OK - it is just me.

No, it's not just you mate.
I too would rather have a home grown lad over the foreigners - better grit and determination and all that stuff..................
Mutu - out
Smith - in
That would work for me.

That sounds nice and all but if we were going to bring in Smith why wouldn't we bring back an even better player who's already on our books - Mikael Forssell?
Even if we lose JFH AND Mutu, logic would dictate we are bringing in bigger/better names to replace them than Forssell (who we could have brought back for free) - which in my opinion Smithy is not.

Hmmmm, not for me Clan.
Mutu may only have got 10 goals from all competitions but I would give him the benefit of doubt as it is his first year in the league. His work rate has been good and he has been terribly unlucky scoring wise. I would stay with him rather than Smith for next season coz I dont think Smithy's goal tally is that great anyways.

To be fair, Smith has had to play in the midfield a bit this year, so his goal tally being down isn't too surprising. However, I agree with mst77 - if we didn't take Forsell why do we need Smith? Mutu can stay; lets see what he can do in his second season. We'll jettison JFH and see what "big name" striker we can bring in. Ronaldo? Sheva? Ruud? Who knows.
