Here is this years shortlist -

* Bat For Lashes – Two Suns
* Florence and the Machine – Lungs
* Friendly Fires – Friendly Fires
* Glasvegas – Glasvegas
* Kasabian – West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
* La Roux – La Roux
* Led Bib – Sensible Shoes
* Lisa Hannigan – Sea Sew
* Speech Debelle – Speech Therapy
* Sweet Billy Pilgrim – Twice Born Men
* The Horrors – Primary Colours
* The Invisible – The Invisible

Who would you choose?

I haven't heard all of these and I'd like to root for Glasvegas for obvious reasons, and because it's a damn fine CD as well but I'm really enjoying listening to Florence and the Machines atm. She's got a tremendous voice on her which was highlighted with her recent acoustic set at T in the Park.

The winner will be announced on the 8th September.

Radiohead has never won this award?

Really?

Radiohead has never won this award?

Really?

They were on the shortlist in 1997 with Ok Computer, in 2001 with Amnesiac, in 2003 with Hail to the Thief and in 2008 with In Rainbows.

It's probably the major talking point regarding the award. Thom Yorke was also on the shortlist in 2006 for Eraser.

That list of past winners has some genuine classics alongside some genuine turkeys (Talvin Singh and Ms Dynamite? Really?).
