I am a swede wondering how good Martin Dahlin was in his prime years in bundesliga. He played with Mönchengladbach something in the 90s.

I know, I had a season ticket at Gladbach in his days. ;)
Ok, how can I explain "how good" he was? I'd say he was "very good". Not world class, not a top 5 striker in the world, but he was one of the best Bundesliga forwards for five years in a row, always at least ten goals, always a scoring ratio around 0.5, and in Gladbach's best year in the 90s the best attack partnership of the Bundesliga with Heiko Herrlich. The only active Bundesliga forwards with similar stats over many years are Klose and Kuranyi. Klose is slightly better than Dahlin was; maybe Kuranyi is a good comparison. He was on a similar level to Stefan Kuntz or Ulf Kirsten. Why are you interested?

I hated the guy, but agree with everything you said there! :)

This is how he was rated by 'kicker' magazine:

1992 national level or below
1993 International Class [Forward]
1994 World Class O [Forward]
1995 International Class [Forward]
1996 national level or below
1997 national level or below
1998 abroad
1999 national level or below

Gregoriak, did you look at the summer and winter ratings? He had injury problems from 95-97 and might have missed e.g. the list in summer 96 for too few rated games after the winter break. But he scored 12 goals in 16 games in the first half of the season, this must have been "international class" in winter?
Hmm... but this doesn't explain the 97 rating, where he missed the first half of the season, and scored 10 goals in the Rückrunde. That wasn't good enough to make the kicker list?

This is not broken down by seasons but by years.

It includes both summer and winter rankings for each year. If a player was rated "international class" in winter but lower in summer that same year it shows the higher of the two ratings of a year.

So if you mean the winter 1995 ranking (= Hinrunde 1995/96), that's where he was rated "international class" for 1995.

Regarding rückrunde 1996/97, he probably made the Kicker list, but below international class. Scoring 10 goals in one half of the season is surely a decent achievement but not necessarily a showing of international class.

Boy u must be kidding,he was the total package...he had some "DIVA" aspect to him IMO..but in general he was a strong physical quick and very smart striker...a total blessing for any team and coach,i remember that offensive line while he was a gladbacher..with likes of martin max,ertl,salou,herlich..and one of my all time faves jorgen petterson:D
