VIENNA - ARSENAL and French international midfielder Samir Nasri was injured Tuesday morning during training at the club's summer camp in Bad Waltersdorf, in southeastern Austria.

Nasri, 22, was taken to hospital in nearby Hartberg for tests, the Austria Press Agency reported, without specifying the nature of the injury.

The Frenchman, who has 15 international caps, joined the Gunners last year from French side Marseille.

French publications L'Equipe and France Football are reporting that Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has been taken to hospital in Austria following an injury sustained while training on the Gunners' pre-season tour of the country.

The 22-year-old was transported by two members of staff, reportedly crying in pain, to the regional hospital in Hartberg. Early reports from the AFP news network claim the player has broken his fibula and will be out of action for at least eight weeks.

2-3 months injury and the season hasn't even started yet. I think its fair to say that our injury luck won't be improving this year.

Well well..... Time to go shopping Arsene? Or 'we have alot of depth in Walcott, Eboue, Rosicky, Arshavin who can play the wings'.

F F F F F F F F why us? Why now? why our players? Only to think of an injury free season. Well I guess that forces Wenger to dip in the market for a midfielder and a winger.

Damn. I hate this for Nasri, the team and us.

The positive element is that he has time to recover and still play a role in the season and Wenger has more than a month and plenty of cash to buy another player or two.

I reckon he won't be 'himself' for quite a long time after he recovers, given that he'd have missed just about the entirety of preseason.

does anyone have any insight into why it is that arsenal gets more injuries than most, if not all other clubs? what kind of training methods do they use?

Feck, I just read about this on Arsenal.com. As mentioned above, the only good part is that it happened early and Nasri will be back well before the tough December/January stretch.

Hopefully this will spur AW and others into addressing the midfield sooner than later.
