How professional is this?
http://www.cpsl.org/teams.asp
Could this become a true professional league in Canada to rival MLS and MFL?

It's semi-pro at best, and I don't see the CPSL becoming a full fledged national pro league any time soon.

I thought it was funny that they had a team whose nickname was Croatia.

Is this a serious question?

It's not Canadian or even Professional. It will never be the basis for a national league.
End of discussion.

Actually that was the name of the old Toronto NASL team. Toronto Metro-Croatia.
Also, my question was not: IS this a serious league to contend with MLS/MFL, rather COULD THIS BECOME a serioius leaue to contend with MLS/MFL.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
The future Canadian League lies with the 5 A-League teams, not with the CPSL.

Toronto Croatia is, or was (is it still?) a team in the CPSL. They merged with the NASL Metros for a short time (1975 was it?), hence the name Metros-Croatia. I don't know when the two parted ways, probably sometime around 1978-79, when the Metros were bought by a new owner (I think) and renamed the Blizzard.
I thought the CPSL was more like D3 or PDL in Canada.

On a good day the CPSL could compete with some D3 teams and PDL clubs. I would say it is more on par with the PDL.

How many minor leagues with "professional" in their title actually ever are? :) In reality it's an amateur league. The one franchise that was close to having a pro setup with players training together 5 days a week during the 9 to 5 workday was the Ottawa Wizards but they got kicked out at the end of last season.
The CPSL was originally going to be called the Ontario Professional Soccer League because it is affiliated with the Ontario Soccer Association rather than the CSA but they changed that to CPSL (Ontario) before the league was lauched in the last 90s despite the fact there are no divisions in other parts of the country. The chances of the CPSL ever expanding significantly beyond the Toronto area are somewhere between extremely slim and none.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what ever became of Zsjelko Bilecki or John Coyne?

now I am no expert in canada's soccer but think there is a future .
as an american i would like to see someone else also beat up on mexico it's fun!
and are own rivalrie take off
1. Take your A League teams add another one and add two from the cpsl
to make a league again
2. Make the cpsl the second division they have some fan base.
3. Make the cpsl have only 5 foreign players on the field during a game
to give a chance to home grown players or players eligible to represent
canada
4. Contract all canadien players from the lowest divisions of europe and
bring them to the top flight teams.
5. Contract all canadien players playing at the American A league level
and american college level.
6. Try to run the league like the MLS runs it own.
7. Try to get the LYNX, Supra , Croatia to play in the new stadium I heard it is public use.
I Hope this can get done
one last thing First try to get an A league Canadien side in the concacaf
champions league, the voyager cup winner.

I believe at one point the CPSL was/wanted to be the 2nd division in Canada. The A-League clubs are clearly the first division in Canada.
Right now, it is best for us to concentrate on the A-League clubs and hope a few more teams join the league. That way we will almost have our own league.
In my opinion there are no current clubs in the CPSL that could join the A-League.
