SC Columbia v Arsenal
Tuesday, July 21 2009
17:30 GMT // 12:30 EST
Well, the Austrian tour is underway and we're set to face SC Columbia tomorrow afternoon (not Columbia, SC -- that's a state capitol). I'm not positive on the time zones here -- I'm assuming Arsenal.com posted the GMT time (1730) and if that's correct then the game is indeed on at 12:30 tomorrow.
No squads announced as of yet. Maybe later today.

I'll go with 8-0.

With teams like Wolfsburg and Villareal racking up wins of 32-0 and 27-0, I'd say we should aim for 50-0.

On Arsenal.com, they have the squad listing for this game. It's all the youth team players.

^^ Maybe we should make a separate thread for the Youth game against Lincoln City if we're going to discuss it a bunch. Otherwise this could get confusing.
Some interesting facts about SC Columbia:
- SC Columbia are an amateur team with no professional or semi-professionals in the squad.
- They currently compete in Austrian’s Fourth Division.
- Their most prominent player is 44-year-old fee-kick specialist Julius Simon. He scored 10 goals last season and has 23 caps for Slovakia
- Manager Franz Maresch took the helm two years ago after spending time playing for the club. The former-professional striker, 37 (7 years younger than their best player!), used to ply his trade in the Austrian Premier League.

It doesn't mean much in the immediate, but this is a great chance for the kids to impress Le Boss. Several of these guys might be pulled up to the first team in 2-3 seasons...

Oh ok, makes sense why we didnt field any 1rst teamers in this ame then. Although Wenger said that this game would have more first team players for some reason.

I guess this means that Barazite isnt in Austria. I thought Arsene might have taken another good look at him before deciding where he goes for next season. Im guessing Frimpong is gone, thought Ayling had an outside chance after his brilliant 2nd half on Sat. We are stacked there tho... I wonder if Bartley is gone or if he is injured considering he wasnt in the first squad.

I expect to see a very strong team for this game, hope to see Eduardo get some action aswell.
I do feel our squad is much stronger than this time last year even though we have lost Adebayor, we gained two in Eduardo & Rosicky + now we have Arshavin. So our attacking options have much more depth.
Young prospects like Wilshere & Ramsey should be around the squad but we shouldnt be depending too much on them at these ages, both of their positions have good cover now.
