AFP headline says it all.
Celtic round of season of slaughter with win over Rangers' lambs (http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylc=X3oDMTBpYjk0aWtjBF9TAzk1ODYzNTkwBHNlYwN0aA--?slug=afp-fbl_sco_pr_celtic_rangers&prov=afp&type=lgns)
A fine year for the Bhoys. It would have been nice to make another European final to bid Henrik adieu, but that's life. My two wishes for the off-season: a) three or four decent signings by Celtic, b) a bucketful of decent signings for for Hearts, Hibs and the other clubs (yea, even unto the bluenoses) and a decent competition next year, and c) return of the SPL to Fox Sports World...
My three wishes for the off season...

Quite a few gems in that article :)
"Now I know how Celtic felt last year," said McLeish, whose side have gone from winning everything in the Scottish game last season to winning nothing in this campaign

He seems to forget though we lost the league by one goal on the last day because our heads were turned by europe and Rangers have had the whole of the season to catch us up and have just been miserable;)

Parkhead Faithful,
Now that is FANTASTIC point. Seems McLeish was asleep this whole season. Quick, someone grab a 2X4 and wallop him one to wake his arse up...wink.

I caught a wee bit of the game, Celtic looked well on top.
Apparently Rangers threw tatties at the Celtic fans and racially abused Bobo Balde. The latter is despicable, the former is rather hilarious.

The potato throwing was rather funny. The racial abuse was not. These are the same people who will hail Marvin Andrews a hero if he scores against Celtic. Idiots.

No it's not.
It was in reference to the famine. How would you feel if Celtic fans threw Oranges in reference to the Orange Order?

I would not care!

I would guess that an orange would hurt less than a spud.
I have recently seen the phrase "tattie muncher" used in connection with Sellick and their supporters.
Does the phrase relate particularly to Sellick supporters or is it a general term of abuse in Scotland?

You know, if it was just the spuds it would be funny. Sort of like the breading of Hristo Stoichkov when he came back to Chicago last year (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67382&page=2&pp=15&highlight=great+breading), all done with tounge planted firmly in cheek and apprecitated by all but the target. But linked up with the racial abuse it oozes genuine mean-spiritedness and lingering hatred.

Wide Boy, the term "tattie muncher" is really only used as a derrogatry term for a Celtic fan, I beleive.
I don't think it neccesarily relates to the famine in Ireland as it is a general stereotype of the Irish that they eat potatoes.
If Celtic fans threw oranges at Rangers fans, that would be quite funny too, although probably not quite as funny as it's not as insulting.
-cman-, the tattie throwing, whilst maybe done by the same people, is not linked with the racial abuse of Bobo Balde. The tattie throwing was a stunt by a set of rival fans, designed to wind up the other set although you could argue there are sectarian (not racist) undertones there.
The abuse of Balde was just an example of idiots who are racist and can't keep their mouths shut. The racism is not a direct product of the OF rivalry, it's just because the OF tend to take a larger and more vocal 'scum' element in their supoprt who are more likely to do this sort of thing.
It is true that some Rangers and Celtic fans 'hate' each other in the true sense of the word. This has nothing to do with football, it's all to do with the sectarianism which, sadly, is too prevalent in the West of Scotland. It is these people, who use the clubs as a way of affirming their religious identity, who are at the root of the problem.
I very much doubt that two football fans can truly hate each other, purely as a result of their allegiences. I've said that I 'hate' one set of fans at one time or another but if I were to meet these people, I'm sure I would get on with them because, at the end of the day, we're all football fans and we all love the game and our clubs. And 'true' Celtic and Rangers fans are the same I would imagine. It's these idiots who shame themselves, their clubs and their country which are to blame. Unfortunately, it is these idiots who make Celtic and Rangers what they are today. It's their money which puts the OF out of reach of the other clubs.
But, hey ho, there's nothing me, or anyone else can do about. My club sure as hell ain't going anywhere near the SPL anytime soon and I, for one, am thankful for that.

In my experience there is far more hatred between Rangers fans and Aberdeen fans.

Really? I know they don't like each other, did all that start with the tackle on Ian Durrant?

I think that was the main beginning of it. I just think there is a dark side to the Rangers Aberdeen which does not seem to be going away. The only time I’ve actually witnessed violence on a large scale, at the football, was at a Rangers Aberdeen game at Ibrox when it was called off when all the fans were inside the ground. On the way out you can imagine there was quite a lot of agitated people. I remember seeing the police on horses trying to split it up. Pretty scary stuff. I’ve never experienced anything like that at an old firm game and I’ve been to a fair old few in my time! I’d say there is a lot more hatred in the air at Rangers Aberdeen games
