Scotland squad to play Estonia/Trinidad & Tobago [r]

The Scotland squad for the two end of season internationals against Estonia and Trinidad & Tobago has been announced today by Berti Vogts.

However, there is no place yet in the 25 man squad for injured captain Barry Ferguson, who the manager had hoped might be ready after his knee injury. He explained: "I spoke to Graeme Souness yesterday, and he told me that Barry needs another small operation, so he will not be back in full training by the end of May. However, I am confident that Barry will be with us for the game against Hungary in August and our opening World Cup qualifier in September against Slovenia."

Berti has stuck by the players who played in Denmark last week, with just one addition, Sheffield United striker Andy Gray who has scored regularly since moving to Bramall Lane in January. Rab Douglas and Neil McCann, however, both miss out through injury. There is also the prospect of Christian Dailly and Kevin Kyle missing the internationals if they are involved in Nationwide League promotion play-offs, so their progress will be closely monitored.

Scotland face Estonia first, in the Le Coq Arena in Tallinn, on Thursday, 27 May, then return home to play Trinidad & Tobago at Easter Road Stadium in Edinburgh on Sunday, 30 May, with a 2.00 pm kick-off.

Estonia will be forever remembered by the Tartan Army for the game that lasted 3 seconds in September 1997.

Estonia is one of the 10 countries joining the E.U. on the 1st of May, which should make travel a little bit easier.

For those less inclined to travel, Scotland face Trindad & Tobago at Easter Road, Edinburgh the following Sunday.

Fans of the SPL will be well aware of the risks posed by the likes of Collin Samuel, Jason Scotland, Brent Sancho and Marvin Andrews.

Scotland boss Berti Vogts names three new faces in his team to face Estonia.

Portsmouth duo Nigel Quashie and Richard Hughes, along with Livingston defender David McNamee, all earn their Scotland caps.

Darren Fletcher is captain for the night in the absence of the injured Barry Ferguson, Christian Dailly - who is preparing for play-off duty with West Ham at the weekend - and Jackie McNamara, who stayed in Scotland for family reasons.

At just 20, the Manchester United midfielder is his nation's youngest captain in living memory and the most youthful for more than 100 years.

0-0, almost half time. Scotland playing very well and should be 3 or 4-1 up!

We won 1-0. Not to bad a result to win in Estonia these days. And considering the team we had out, it's reasonably encouraging.

We played pretty dam well! Completely dominated large chunks of the game but we couldn't stick the ball in the net.

Thank god for James McFadden - 4 goals in 6 Scotland starts!

An absolutely fantastic first 30 minutes! Regardless of the opposition, this has to be one of the best Scotland performances in recent history!

And Darren Fletcher is unquestionably the greatest player in the world, well IMO anyway!

We were quite good for the first half hour or so, but there were still weaknesses there - Crawford couldn't hit a barn door, for example. I think we just took pity on them in the end, at times it was walking pace or slower. T&T were one of the poorest sides I have seen this season (including Scottish 1st division teams!).

But there were plus points there;

Craig Gordon settled down to a good game after a nervy start (although Malky Mackay didn't help with an awful backpass to Gordon's weaker foot);

Quashie is a decent player, no world beater but gets stuck in and has a good left foot;

and if Darren Fletcher doesn't win 100 caps it will be a tragedy (because it would mean that he would have suffered a terrible injury to wreck his career, pray to God that doesn't happen!).

I didn't see all of the game but we played some pretty nice stuff today, regardless of the standard of the opposition.

What a player Fletcher is, his goal was outstanding. A perfect 40 yard through ball to McFadden, who jinked past one defender, held up the ball and backheeled it onto Fltcher's run and he drilled it into the bottom corner. Those two are going to be world class, they've already shown they can rip teams apart. Remeber that goal against Holland?

Arnie didn't play to badly either.

Moyes has to play mcfadden more at everton, i think the fact when he does play him he plays him in a left wing position, which he can play, when he is much more of a danger up front,doesnt help his case much. still if kevin kilbane floats your boat then i think that says it all.
