Goal.com is doing a special about teams of the past decade. They make a starting XI using any of the players that have played for/in the club, national team, or league for the past decade. Here is Bayern's:

http://www.goal.com/en/news/2517/goalcom-teams-of-the-decade/2009/07/15/1373608/bayern-munich-team-of-the-decade-2000-2010

Do you guys agree with their choices? What are your guys team of the decade for FCB?

Whithout looking at their list, my team would be:

-------------Kahn---------------
Sagnol---Lucio---Linke----Lahm
------Jeremies---Effenberg------
Scholl------Ballack------ze Roberto
------------Elber------------------

OK I just read the article...that guy is an IDIOT. How can you have a best eleven without Effenberg or Scholl? Author's credibility = 0

No kidding.

When I heard goal.com was doing this I thought they would at least have a follower of the team that has followed the team for the past decade to write the article about each team but obviously they haven't.

heh. the guy who wrote this sometimes frequents the FCB facebook group, and I remember when he got the gig writing for Goal.com. They pretty much were looking for anyone who knew anything about Bayern at all. This kid is usually 80% wrong on everything when it comes to match/player reviews during the season, and his editorial stuff is just plain shite

pizarro of all players. Id settle for carsten jancker who was too massive for any defender to handle. Linke,Sergio,Scholl,Effe,Tarnat should be on the list

Pizarro instead of Elber??? lol

err.. GUYS WATCH IT. '
it says 2000-2010.
So effe will not work.
Elber might qualify.
Scholl doesn't qualify either because he spent the most of the time on the bench.

one choice that i do have problem with is kuffour...he hardly plays much after 2002 and it was mostly Kovac or Lucio or Ismal or demi.

Elber was Torschützenkönig in 2003 with 21 goals, a feat that Pizarro was never even close to. That in itself is enough for him to be on this shitty list instead of Pizarro.

Effenberg was at Bayern till 2002. He did more for Bayern in those 2 years than Schweini has done his whole career so far for FCB. Scholl spent a lot of the time on the bench, yes, but when he did play he was usually wonderful, at least up till 04 or 05 when age started to catch up with him.

----------Kahn
--Sagnol--Lucio--Linke--Lizarazu
-Salihamidzic-Scholl-Effe-Ribery
-----Elber-------Makaay----

Mine would probably be that, I think Lizarazu just gets the nod ahead of Lahm, but if Lahm stays at Bayern for a couple more years I can imagine him becoming an all time great. I was a bit iffy putting Ribery in there, but he's been damn good these last 2 seasons.

In my opinino, to be on this team, you need to have at least 4 years in the last 10 years. Otherwise, it doesn't sound convicing at all even though I do agree that effen was a lot more effective than piggy. Same thing goes with elber and Kuffour...those 2 didn't play enough in the last 10 years for bayern.

Wow, this guy must be 10 years old. Bastian ********ing Schweinsteiger and Pizarro (I actually really like the guy when he was here, but still), REALLY?

lol, yea. I didn't even bother clicking the link.

Lists or teams like this are tricky since seasons and player's careers spill over but I think one has to measure, alongside longevity, the contribution of a player and that is why IMO players like Scholl, Elber and Effenberg belong on such a list. You cannot discount the two great seasons at the start of the decade. Bayern haven't had anything close since and it was a marvelous accomplishment in itself.

In my opinion, to be on this team you had to have won something. Something of consequence. I take the entire 2001 side. Not a weakness on it. I would give anything to have anyone of those players back at Bayern in their form in 2001.

.......................Kahn.........................
........Kuffour....Anderson...Linke...........
Sagnol...................................Lizarazu
.............Hargreaves...Effenberg..........
.....Salihamidzic.................Scholl.......
......................Elber.........................

Since then we have had some players like Ribery, Ballack, Ze Roberto, Lucio, Lahm, etc... but nothing was more fluid than this team above. And a majority of them were together for a number of years, from the painful CL loss to Man U in 1999 and on through 2001.

That's a funny story, and not at all surprising. I usually pay no attention to authors when it comes to articles, but I've begun to notice that particular one on the few times I ever end up at goal.com. The guy really is quite clueless...
