Whatīs the matter with the man? He didnīt go to Austria but stayed in UK to "have his individual training programme". Isnīt he recovered yet, has he picked up a new injury, or is he to be sold after all? Does anybody know?

hopefully we can get some fast cash for him. the quicker he commits-- or leaves-- the better for everyone. i'd like to see come other strikers already on the squad before he leaves, though.

OK seems heīs just not even close for the comeback yet and thatīs why heīs not in Austria. Zola, when speaking about Mancini stated that Ashton is still more than two months from recovery.

So sad how a player once thought to be a potential England star. I thought he could make it. So strong and powerful in the air, technically good, can hold the ball up and a great finisher but he can't seem to stay fit for more then 3 months. This had led to a slow player getting slower. and his link up play hasn't really developed.

I would have thought that not being on the Austrian junket would mean a whole lot more than not being match fit.

And the hits just keep on coming...

I'm guessing that if Ashton is considering retirement, he's probably not very close to being match fit.

Seems the specialists might be able to make a high-risk operation to possibly remove the constant ankle pain heīs suffering but in order to prevent him to end up wheelchaired Deano must retire from playing.

What a shame. He couldīve become one of our greatest.

If this is true then I'm utterly gutted for the guy

it's odd how quiet the situation is. zola even said something along the lines of "i assume he's training on his own rehab program" yesterday. must be really very serious if so little is said...no timeframe...nothing.
he could have had a bright future. i just hope he's made enough already to sort out the rest of his life.
