No matter how you cut it, Chivas USA is becoming a disaster for MLS and fans . There is less then a year to go for everything to be in place ( actualy things should have been settled already) and this people cant make up their minds what they want. Going into LA and HDC no less one day, then looking at Chicago the next, then hearing they taking over one existing MLS city and forcing relocation of that team somewhere else its all just to much for me to handle, and just i have built up a total hate for them over the last few months. I feel they pushing MLS onto the wrong path and heading towards self distruction. I hope i am wrong, but one thing is for sure they will be the most hated team in USA.

I love Chivas. The fact that most of BigSoccer has their panties in a collective bunch makes it all worth it. Bring on the Mexicans. If we can beat their best with MLS players, we can beat their scrubs with ours.

Let's see: i made sure I cut it very carefully and what do you know, my Mexican American girlfriend likes the idea of Chivas USA. She's excited! A Peruvian friend of mine feels the same way: he's looking forward to a US Latino team, something that he can identify with. Are these both examples of a "disaster"?

I don't even think Chivas hopes you're wrong.

carlos you missing my point, it has nothing to do with latinos, but the way they are starting this off its the wrong way, makes us feel MLS is bending over , and over and over again to accomodate them. And while they do that walking over others who invested time and dedication for what they already have, it just aint fair to move in on others. I am ok with having a latino american team but pick another city please and get on with it if you serious to join, if not get the f--- away.

LEagues Combine?

Unless USSF and MExico soccer federation want to get BANNED from World CUp competition, it wouldn't want to do that.

FIFA does not allow leagues in two countries to combine. Period.

Who's "we? And, more to the point, who's "they?" And, what have "you" done to accomodate or not accomodate anyone or anything? You sound just like the anti-soccer types who squeal, "why are you always shoving soccer down our throats?!" every time anyone mentions the sport. And while they do that walking over others who invested time and dedication for what they already have, it just aint fair to move in on others. What, exactly are you talking about? How does this even begin to describe anything that has actually happened? I am ok with having a latino american team but pick another city please and get on with it if you serious to join, if not get the f--- away. NIMBY, eh....?

I heard today on ESPN during the Champions league Tommy Smith refer to Monaco as a team based in Monaco but plays in France???

I hate Chivas USA! There is no way that this team can have only latin players even if they are American citizens. The fact that latinos will support this team solely because of race is just wrong. Lets have an all white Euro-American team and support it just because it's a white thing. Crap! I hope to god that Chivas USA will not try to have only latinos even if they American citizens. American laws will never allow this to happen. This is so devisive and totally Un-American. Why if it's non-white then it's ok to self segregate. This is crap! They should be forced to adhere to current MLS rules and if they try to hire only latino players and fron offer staff then I'll join the class action lawsuit!

I too have a problem of an all-Latino Chivas. It seems to me that this idea is devisive and is a tweak in the nose of all other players of all other nationalites. It is another example of pc run amuck.

Monaco declined to have a national team in order for AS Monaco to be a fully integrated team in the French league.

Dear Newbie,

Fifa has a lot of say in MLS. The most recent example is the imposed transfer window...

That's the beauty of Chivas USA, some hate them some love them. Personally I hate Chivas (Mexico) and will hate Chivas (USA). I grew up watching America and nothing would make me happier to see Chivas USA get their a$$ kicked week in and week out. :D

I think that second-to-last line is actually very accurate. I'm sure Swiss knows quite a bit more than you.

MLS doesn't march to it's own drummer, but because it is small enough, it can fly under the radar on some stuff. It just can't go too far.

Personally? I can't wait to root against Chivas. But I still want them in the MLS.

Also, soccerfan, I get the feeling that your first post has more to do with you "filling in the blanks." Really there has been so few official announcements that 90% of what we have heard is reporters drumming up interest, and MLS officials saying "that would be great, but we can't say".

Take the latest Bergin article. It says NOTHING that we didn't know, except that now we have Peter Wilt's quotes to add in to our discussion. Same thing with the near-identical LA article a few weeks ago - Rumors start up, a reporter makes a phone call, and gets some vague positive response. We spend weeks here pouring over every last syllable.

And exactly where is this "bending over" talk coming from? Who's bending over for Vergara? Even if Vergara is calling the shots, I'm glad. I hate the single entity system. And you think MLS is taking it in the rear from Vergara? The guys about to fork over MILLIONS to pay off other people's debt!

"Oh no, he doesn't want to build a new stadium"

BOO-F-ING-HOO!!! Neither does Kraft, but we keep him around.

You know who the MLS is bending over for? US. That's right, soccer fans. Us. These guys are in a DECADE of red ink so we can have a soccer league, and you are all fussy cuz some dark-skinned guy is coming in and making some noise?

Only half way. It will probably work great to gin up some attendance and interest. The stupid part for the league is to let them put it in an occupied city. Tell them Houston, San Antonio, San Diego, or forget it.

Plus the name is stupid, Chivas is fine with me, but the "USA" part has to go. No one going to confuse the two Chivases (chivi?). Take care of those two and most of us would like it. But then the whole point seems to be to provide a hated rival to every team in the league, so why try to make us happy with it?
