Sorry to hear that.

John was a bit of a hothead at times but I always liked his grit.

Lance Armstrong had a similar diagnosis, albeit at a younger age (25). I was always amazed that cancer which had spread to brain & lungs could be beaten. Lance is now 13 years on. And this week back challenging for maillot jaune!

Anyway, hopefully Hartson is taking some inspiration from Lance's story.

A cancer diagnosis is always hard to take but I think they've made great strides in fighting the disease. I hope all goes well for him and he's staying strong.

Things just got a bit worse; the cancer has spread to his lungs (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/8151728.stm).

FSC says he underwent emergency brain surgery already. Not good. And he did it in Wales. Now I don't know a lot about UK hospitals but I gotta figure you're likely to find better neuro surgeons in London than Swansea. So that makes me think things were bad and had to be dealt w/ fast. :(

I thought this was cool:

"He has also had support from troops in Afghanistan and US Marines"

... and the bit about Lance Armstrong sending him good wishes.

If ever there was an inspiration for someone with testicular cancer which spread to the brain, it would be Lance.

Hang in there John!

Thanks for posting that Fraser. I'd been wondering how things were going with him.

That's a big scar/dent he carries on his head now, but he sounded perfectly normal & clear, so there doesn't seem to be any obvious brain damage.

Onward JH!
