Yea, he should have come out and said this earlier if he really feels that way Maybe then signing him would have been easier.
But you're right, this pretty much puts us on a path to sign him next year.
I'd be pretty pissed if I was a Schalke supporter reading that. This came from a guy who said he could see him finishing his career in Gelsenkirchen.
Neuer is also a born and raised Gelsenkirchen boy. However, even the boys who are born and raised in a place usually want to get out and experience something else.
That is, unless you're too scared like Dortmund's Lars Ricken was or just not good enough to make it anywhere else like Dortmund's Michael Zorc.
Our keeper during the "glory days", Stefan Klos, was also a born and raised Dortmunder, but he also eventually left for Rangers.
The Altintop brothers were also born and raised Gelsenkirchen boys. They both made their names elsewhere before returning home again.
If Neuer goes anywhere, yeah, I definitely have no doubt he'd join you guys........
And it shouldn't hurt Schalke too much. They might want to try to get Ralf Fährmann back from Frankfurt then, but knowing Felix, he'll find another Benaglio.

loyalty only goes so far when your club continuously underachieves and you want to, as one of the bright young goalkeeping talents in the world, play at the highest levels of competition. I think its a lot more than just the NT.
If Schalke have a good season though he could very well change his mind.
Sadly the same argument applies to a french player whose name starts with R and ends with ibery.:D.

Precisely, the Bayern arrogance of thinking he'll still want to join next summer no matter what might prove otherwise especially if he's already no.1 for the National Team and a bigger team comes asking for him.

Well, for that certain player, Bayern is just a stepping stone to bigger things.
Much like Hamburg was for vdV and Dortmund was for TR.

Hell, even if we get Neuer he could use Bayern as a stepping stone to a bigger European club.

Im hoping we would have stopped underachieving by then, and players can realize they can win everthing there is to win with us.

It will be interesting to see if Neuer is one of the kids who can succeed elsewhere.
I know how good of a keeper Jens Lehmann was, but he left Germany too early when he went from Schalke to AC Milan.
I'm certain that's why he joined Arsenal later. Not just for money, but to prove to himself he can succeed abroad.
I think Neuer would be doing the right thing with a stop at Bayern before trying his hand abroad.
But should Neuer ever join Bayern, he could also become another one in the mold of Meier and Kahn too......

Well, in Germany that will be true. However, as the money grows more and more in the other big leagues, winning at the European level will become harder and harder.
Sadly, that goes for all German teams, not just Bayern. :(

We can always go after Adler. Sure he looks like a girl with the longer hair:D, but he really is a good goalkeeper. I saw him live on more than one occasion his reflexes are lightning fast.

Agree with your comments, but I also believe the pressure of playing at Bayern will crush him. I'm really not convinced with his personality.
I'm almost certain Neuer can handle it. Neuer reminds me of a young Lehmann or a young Kahn.
Adler reminds me of a young Hans-Joerg Butt......
I think Adler has the talent, but not the attitude.
I think Rensing has the attitude, but not the talent.
I think Neuer has both.

can anyone think of any other candidates for the RB besides Rafinha and Srna?. I just dont see Magath letting go of one of his better players, and I think Srna might not want to leave (also he might cost 20mil+).

Beck. Doubt it will happen anytime soon though

I'm pretty sure that there will be no additional FB. THis whole story resembles to much to the futile attempts of signing a DM in the past seasons

Yea it will certainly be interesting. I'd like to believe that Neuer is a special talent that could do well anywhere but stranger things and bigger disappointments have happened so it wouldn't be at all shocking. A lot of pressure is put on young players nowadays and not all can handle it.
The mentality aspect is going to come into play in seeing which of all these overhyped young German players will actually make it. God knows there seem to be hundreds of them, lol.

I think that it will be Rafinha that arrives. It was either Hoeness or Rummenigge the other day that said "Neuer wanted to come to Bayern but Magath said no. That is the only reason he didn't arrive." My thinking is that he is trying to unsettle the Schalke squad so that Rafinha will push through his transfer and Magath will be under more pressure to let him go. I would rather Rafinha arrive than Srna anyways. Rafinha is proven in the Bundesliga and will cost less.

I agree. I think the transfer season is over for BM.
What Bayern has proven in the past few transfer periods is they spend early and often, then are finished.
Klose is the only 'late' signing I can remember. Then again I am old. And my memory aint so good.

Wow. Sherlock.
I have predicted that the cheap solution would be Altintop as RB. But Lahm is an upgrade. :D Okay, the former 'best left side' is not exisiting anymore. People can't have it all.
If they can't even manage to get Rafinha, or at least to solve this ever lasting RB problem with some money - then I don't know.
Nerlinger already sounds like Hoeneß.

I guess there is a big difference between not not being able to get Rafinha and not even wanting him at all. The latter is true for BM

The only thing I could see happening with a small likelihood is the arrival of an additional creative player, but as long players like Borowski are not cleaned out you can even exclude this possibility

Roy Makaay was brought in during late august when we signed him. It was very much last minute.
