Me and 4 of my friends, after slightly becoming bored with playing each other 1v1, started doing the Master League Mode a while ago. Our plan was to create an 'All-Star' team using the players from the countries we normally play as (Norway [my team], Turkey, England, Argentina, and France) so we took over Real Madrid since they already had several guys we wanted, but much to our dismay we started with a team of crappy default players.
So we had to build up, after finishing the first season in 7th place of division 2 we bought 11 guys from our teams... not all the star players we wanted, but good enough to win the division the next year and move up to division 1. After that off-season we added a few more key players we wanted and managed to win division 1 by 2 points. We've made some more trades and now, even though we are still lacking some of the players we originally wanted, we have an awesome force and have already started the season with a great 2-0 victory. Both goals scored by Solskjaer. :D
Here is our starting line up:
Keeper - Rustu (Turkey)
Defense - Makelele (France), Frederick (England), Lundekvam (Norway), Ayala (Argentina)
Midfield - Dyer (England), Sas (Turkey), Solskjaer (Norway)
Forwards - Crespo (Argentina), Owen (England), Nihat (Turkey)
Subs - Thuram (France), Ahmet (Turkey), Gerrard (England), Zanetti (Argentina), Rudi (Norway)
*Note: The guy who uses France doesn't play it often, which is why his team is so vastly under-represented.
For next season we are aiming at adding Henry (France), Carew (Norway), Beckham (England), Hakan Suker (Turkey), and either Franco or Saviola (Argentina).
So I guess it was kind of fitting that we chose Real Madrid to play as, seeing as how we are amassing a team of our own superstars. Anyone else ever try this? Not necessarily with other people, but at least building up an all-star team in Master League Mode? If so, who did you get?
Also, the games are so fun. We have 2-3 people playing on the same team per game and it's a blast. If no one has tried having multiple people on the same team, you dunno what you're missing. :D

hey guys. soccer games are my fav sports games. all i have are the EA Sports Fifa games. i have World Cup 98, Fifa 99, World Cup 2002, and i'm waiting for Fifa 2004 to come in the mail. i've heard a lot about Winning Eleven, but i kinda have my doubts for some reason cuz the Fifa license is not there. do you guys recommend this game or consider it better than the Fifa games?? what are the differences?? also, are the graphics and gameplay better?? and lastly, are any Mexican club teams on that game cuz Fifa 2004 has at least like 5. thanks.

look up in the internet comparing two games. From what i've heard, you can't set up your own formation in Fifa right? you can use 5-5-0 if u want to. you can create new players, and use pele and maradonna on master league mode. you can create your own players too. WE series allows much more freedom in tactics and formation. Graphics isn't as good but gameplay is much much better. You can set your formation for counter attack, central attack, off-side trap etc. Loop shot, chip over the head, 360 turn, and score from corner kicks.
If you like playing real life soccer, you'll like WE better.

Just for the hell of it, I decided to play AC Milan and re-create their early 90's team, or some facsimile thereof.

Baresi
Maldini
Albertini
Rijkaard

On the bench was Desailly, as well as a created George Weah (who I based roughly on Papin).
I also have a Barcelona squad that's pretty all-star-esque:

Guardiola
Laudrup
Ronaldinho
Cruyff
Maradona
Bench:

my team could beat any of your punk ass teams.
proof:
keepers: kahn, abbiatti

midfield: zidane, demarcus beasley (he's fast and cheap), beckham, rivaldo, totti, roy keane, nedved, redondo

My team is good that I have to win by 4 goals to break even in regular season matches. I've already won the treble last year and this year I'm half way thru and I have yet to lose a match. 5 stars, bitches.

I'm slowly rebuilding Arsenal after getting stuck with the default bunch instead of the real players. I've managed to get Sol, Henry, and Ljung but am using cheap American and S.Koreans as filler until I can afford the other ones. I also bought Pele because...well, he's Pele.
How do you guys manage your budgets? The game gives so little info on what you can expect to get that I am worried about buying to many stars to quickly and then having to restart.

if you go over negative 10,000 points the game is over. or if you have any below zero points once the season is over then the game is over.
so if you buy a player and you go into debt, say negative 5,000 points you need to make up those points by the very last week or it's game over. By 'very last week' I mean after the season is over and after the transfer period and friendlies - so you have time.
make sure you make up any debt you have. There is a few ways to do it. You get a certain amount of points for every win. You get a bonus in each game for every goal you score and it gets subtracted if you let in a goal.
Or you can get a nice chunk (1,000 points I think) for having the top goal scorer or the top assist man in your league. Winning cup matches never costs you a thing but you can make money off of winning. Finishing top in your league gets you money too. Second place gets you points but less of them. You can also get points by winning the friendlies before the next season starts.
I'm in a position where I lose about 50 points a game even when I win 3-0. However my team is pretty good so I know I can more than make up for it by doing well in the league, WEFA champions cup and d1 cup matches.
My first few seasons I struggled to stay above zero points but after you finally get the players you really want winning becomes easier and you can then really rack up points. Before my latest shopping spree I have almost 70,000 points. I want to get to a point where I can buy every star in the game so no one else has them. I want to go 26-0-0 and win every competition I'm involved in.

More advice for adding to your team without breaking the bank....look for free transfers. In the mid-season and end of season negotiation periods do a conditional search for players with 1 year or less of contract time left. Then all you have to do is raise their salary points enough for them to come to you. That way you avoid paying the transfer fee and only have to worry about paying them a weekly salary next season. Don't aim too high, most big players won't come to a div 2 team no matter what you offer salary wise. But you'd be surprised who you can attract.

what is the best formation to use in winning eleven i like to use a 4-5-1 because i like to have 3 midfielders going forward and one lone striker i also believe that passing is key so what are some suggestions on players besides the real madrid team :) and some more ideas on the formation.
