I'm not necessarily advocating for a big move since the team is starting to gel, but Toronto just put a big deal together and it appears that Colorado may have as well. With the trade window coming up, why aren't we hearing anything about moves involviding FC Dallas?
Are we a player or not?
Rumors are constantly circulating about RBNY, the Galaxy, Seattle, Toronto and New England. Many have come to fruition.
Just read 3RD Degree and SH keeps talking about players they observe in Gold Cup, but isn't that the lazy way to find talent? Hell, aren't all the other teams observing those same players? Why do we insist on ignoring players from across the Pond?
Have we been looking at any African strikers? Several MLS teams seem to have tapped that source successfully.
Again, just wanting to know how hard FCD's front office is working to raise the bar. I am happy with how things are progressing and am waiting to see if Tom Sanchez can make it back on the pitch to show what he offers.

A valid question about if there are any big moves in the works....the rest of your post sounds a lot like sour grapes and whining - more accusatory than inquisitive...but I'll assume you are really asking the questions with a genuine desire for information.
Only two weeks ago (at the STH Town Hall) we were informed that they have a 'short list' of five players that they are actively working to get into talks with - this from a list of 40 they are watching.
With the trade window coming up, why aren't we hearing anything about moves involviding FC Dallas?
It could be that the FO learned something about keeping very tight wraps on possible players they are targeting or are in talks with after the whole blow up with Ariel Ortega of River Plate earlier this year.

Nothing that was said indicates that the players being observed are the ONLY players the FO have their eyes on, and nothing indicates they are ignoring players from across the pond.
Have we been looking at any African strikers?
Yes we have - multiple reports from 2009 have discussed some of the players in on trials have been from Africa.

In this case they get a little credit cause they've already filed on a few players in the Gold Cup and they are just using the GC to get a look at the current form of players they have already asked to be signed.
Why do we insist on ignoring players from across the Pond? Money. European players are more expensive per skill level than centra/south american ones.

Right, but is the issue money (or the lack or willingness to spend thereof) or that South Americans are a better value?
Okay, I won't be delicate any more. What I mean to say is "are we shopping at KMart for players?" or are we surfing the world wide web to find truly great value? (so to speak)
And Chaz (I know you're out there), I wasn't whining, but I am wondering whether or not we are so gun shy of the fiascos of Sack 'a Slipup, Denothing and Traffic Cone that we won't play in the big sand box any more.

I'm here :D
South Americans are a better value in terms of $ for skill. But based on the town hall speech it seemed like there is a limit of some kind on the dollars HSG is willing to spend in the current economic environment (i.e. for a DP) - and that limits the DP we can go after.
On the other hand, I have heard several people offer their opinion that FCD has too many latinos. So, who knows?

Right, but is the issue money (or the lack or willingness to spend thereof) or that South Americans are a better value? I don't know. I've asked SH about $$ backing and he says he has it. But I'm not sure how we will know that.

and whether we've heard of a player or not has absolutely nothing to do with their real value.

The better question is who might be on the bubble that gets the axe if we do make a move(s)? Is it based on incoming player position, current occupants of the dog house? You have to figure all the GA players are safe, so who does that leave?
With the little amount of time Dello gets you'd figure he'd be first, but who's next? Everyone else has seen minutes, is GA, or is favored by the bus driver.

With the little amount of time Dello gets you'd figure he'd be first. You might be right but don't undersell his squad value. A MLS need a couple guys like him. He works hard, keeps his mouth shut. Is cheap, can play about 6 different positions. Even if his value is only in training and reserves, it's still value.
It won't shock me if Dello is out, but it won't shock me if he's not either.
